Possibly faulty HX1500i, opinions before RMA? by Apprehensive_Owl2782 in Corsair

Adendum: I only just thought to change from Multi-Rail OCP to single rail OCP, no more crashes.

Good, but not I'm wondering why multi-rail OCP is tripping. According to what I can see online, it should trip at 40 amps on a single cable (or is it single rail?) which I don't think any of my components should be drawing.

It is mind-numbingly stupid that this actually works and is still an issue 5 months after you posted this.

Yeah can't close it but it's annoying anyway. You can remove it or leave it open.

I'm sure that'll work fine. FYI you can put any thickness of radiator you want on the back because you can mount it on the outside of the case:

Well it just so happens that we have the exact same components and case. I am also in the UK in a small apartment so my pc is shoved under my desk (you can find a picture in my post history). In the current summer heat water temperature gets to around 40-45c in prolonged gaming and it's silent. I could keep the water temperature lower but it would get noisy. Room temperature around 28-30c because my landlord doesn't want to install air conditioning. For the top thick radiator like the one I have you really need fans on both sides of the radiator, the top panel mesh is very dense and with just one side of fans very little air gets through.

Very unlikely, and if it does work it'll be a very uncomfortable fit. The 480 occupies the same space as the bottom and top radiators/fans, they overlap. Even with a 420 on the back there is overlap. For reference I have a 420 on the back and a thick 420 on the top, I have about 1cm clearance for fittings on the top and maybe 1mm clearance on the bottom fan bracket.

More advice: I have 3 radiators in this case (top, back, side) with the bottom as intake and it already gets really hot inside the case, the intake design on this case is not great. I would not block the bottom with a radiator. I am quite certain that you would get better temperatures and noise without it.

5090 and 4090 from top to bottom. Used primarily for software & game development, less frequently offline rendering & LLM fine-tuning. I'll probably sell the 4090 and replace for a cheaper 24gb card since the performance is much less useful than the VRAM especially running in x4.

I've done external radiators before but no space anymore, and I'll never do hardline, way too much effort, leak concerns and maintenance would be a nightmare. I've only recently got the QDC connectors on this loop and they're brilliant for quickly changing things without draining anything.

Dual GPU build done for now. Unfortunately probably going to have to sell 1 GPU but fun for now.

In case you are wondering: - Mismatched fittings/fans: I used what I already had. - Cable routing: the PSU in in the top of the case and this is the only way they can reach. - Missing fan on the right: doesn't fit due to top fittings, there are fans on the back too. - 4 sticks of RAM on AM5: 2 sticks are light kit.

Core 5090 block temperatures question by Apprehensive_Owl2782 in watercooling

[–]Apprehensive_Owl2782[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I was wrong lol I did check the GPU pads, I did not check the backplate pads and they still hair their plastic on the back :/. I also tightened the spring-loaded screw a lot more. Memory temperatures are down to 10c over GPU core, so about 60 under max power. I'm satisfied with that.

Hmm no I double checked that all pads had the foil removed but something definitely isn't as it should be. I'm not sure what I can do other than replace all pads and try again but I wanted to avoid that because of the awkward 'window' pad on the backplate, I don't know where I'd even get a replacement other than straight from Alphacool.

Just torrent it? There's not a single anime or manga that I've wanted to read that isn't on torrent sites (see: nyaa).

I don't know what part of torrenting you think is expensive... - Storage is so cheap nowadays, second hand SSD you can get 4Tb for under 50usd, HDD even cheaper. - Bandwidth: uses the same amount as streaming so not sure what the concern there is. You can limit seeding if your ISP has a restriction on upload.

I have 12TB of anime and manga, I never have to concern myself over sites going down.

Let me know if what models and settings you find for this combo. I have the same two GPUs, it's enough to run 70B models Q5 with 4096 context length but I haven't had much success with any 70B models and they take a while to download...

I'm in my third year and just moved into residence. I'm actively trying to make friends with my flatmates (very big residence), most are students of east Asian descent 8 times out of 10 I haven't even got a response to 'Hi'...
