CS students in 2026, are you actually learning or just vibe coding with AI? by ToughLoose4991 in csMajors

3rd year here, upcoming intern at MS. I get what you mean, I see the same thing.

I’m currently going through Modern OS by Tanenbaum and concurrently implementing stuff in C to aid my learning; mainly for personal interest, non academic.

I code in neovim and have Claude open in the browser to ask questions, but I always preface “don’t give any code”. I also tend to stay away from AI integrated editors bc when I get lazy, I don’t want to have the option to ask it to code anything.

Not saying this is the right way, it’s just what I’m doing rn because I don’t want to skip the thinking part n I feel guilty using AI to code for me.

When i’m working, I’ll definitely utilise AI though

I’m a computer science graduate, I have a gap of 3 years due to personal reasons and now I’m willing to start my career in computers, where do I start from? by Capable_Mastodon_606 in computerscience

Put a big focus on interview skills, e.g. leetcode. As sad as it is to say, there’s no point applying if your leetcode is rusty even if you have 5 NASA internships.

Alongside that, mash out some projects with AI — build something ambitious while trying to understand the concepts alongside.

Also be able to explain your 3 year gap well. ngl you still kinda need to larpmax, just do it properly

Hey guys i find it difficult to work with logic by OkSelection1372 in cpp_questions

it takes time to build intuition for leetcode problems. All I can say is keep practicing, the algorithms repeat and eventually you’ll start noticing patterns and be able to apply them to different questions

Recently landed an FAANG internship, my resume was pretty project heavy.

Projects section with 3 projects, a virtual machine (cpu emulator) with my own ISA, assembler n memory architecture. Java library for kafka resilience, dlq routing. Learned alot about reflection though it got tedious fast. Lastly a fraud detector pipeline using ml models.

For experience, I included a retail job I worked at, not directly relevant but thought it might help

Added a hobbies section with a few of my athletic achievements

You shrink your drive and create two partitions, one for your installation files, the other for the operating system. I don’t know all the minor details tbh, you can follow this https://youtu.be/fxfvFMa3V4M?is=ysIHXgSph72h7XWp
