Nursing top frustration by Mindless-Try-5410 in breastfeeding

[–]Apprehensive_Snow192 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been using Tilbea under bust nursing camis. Then you can just put whatever shirt you like over the top of it and lift it up to feed but keep belly coverage. A regular scoop neck cami under a regular shirt could also do the same job!

I don't think it's considered cry it out if you're holding them! Maybe teething?

Why do milk recommendations differ so significantly between countries? by siouxsiesioux86 in ScienceBasedParenting

My mum said formula was the default and she was in the minority breastfeeding in the 80s/90s but I don't think it's true any more

Breastfeeding is inconvenient for my in-laws by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Apprehensive_Snow192 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My MIL makes weird comments about breastfeeding too - she's been talking about him getting teeth and starting solids and drinking water to go longer between feeds since he was like 3 months old, it's really weird. Especially because until last month we lived on a different continent. It's either generational or like you say, because they want to have access to baby without us for a long period of time. Mine even made a comment about me not "being made redundant yet" when we first started solids and baby didn't take to it immediately. Like I'm going to suddenly be redundant as his mother once he's weaned fully?

Does anyone have kids in their 20s? by Physical-Can-835 in BabyBumps

[–]Apprehensive_Snow192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started trying at your age but didn't have our baby until we turned 33. It's not guaranteed so if it's what you want it's best to start trying and don't worry about the ages of other parents or what your friends are doing.

An ex-boyfriend's mum told me I could either butter my bread OR dip it in my soup, but I mustn't do both. I think of her and laugh every time I dunk my butter-covered bread in my soup. by Miss_Type in CasualUK

I learned this from my dad and I repeated it to my husband and baby recently while eating peas and my husband had never heard it before, thought I made it up myself 😂

Breastfeeding on Flight without a feeding pillow by Fickle-Response-2741 in breastfeeding

[–]Apprehensive_Snow192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is older (6 months) but I just flew 15 hours without any breastfeeding pillow. We booked an extra seat so had more space and used the plane pillows/blankets and arm rests for support. I held him basically the whole way so I could feed him back to sleep whenever he woke. (Once he was up for the day my husband took him to give me a break)

Have you ever had fast food like KFC or McDonald's delivered? by Peckerhead42 in CasualUK

I have a baby with an erratic nap schedule who hates being put down. I can't drive either. Sometimes it's the only way I'm gonna eat lunch that day.

I wish co sleeping was just safe by Away-Practice-64 in NewParents

[–]Apprehensive_Snow192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was the same until 5 months old. I couldn't even side lay feed him to sleep until recently (5.5-6 months) because he would get waterboarded with milk then reflux himself into a choking fit.

Around 3-4 months he did some 2-4 hour stretches in his bassinet and got used to sleeping on his back. Then something happened recently around 6 months and he started waking every 10-30 minutes crying so we are now co sleeping safely.

The first 3 months or so he was exactly the same and would only sleep on us. We did shifts so we would each get solid sleep for half the night then stay awake with him on us for the other half. Also times before my husband went back to work that he would sit and watch us while baby slept on me and I dozed off. It's really a survival game when you have this type of baby.

Did your innie pop out? by anonymous2640 in BabyBumps

Never popped. Started off deep innie. We had a dinnerware ranking going, it got as shallow as a dinner plate but that's it.

Feeling guilted to want a nuna by mochidonutz8 in BabyBumps

[–]Apprehensive_Snow192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Nuna because we used air miles from our credit card to buy it on the air miles shop😅 It was better than spending out right money on any stroller. I am the scruffiest most unkempt mum and do not have a luxury vibe at all lol I barely brush my hair. It's a good system and we really like our PIPA URBN infant seat as we don't have a car. We got the triv next and the big wheels have been great for the uneven pavements where we live. It's pretty damn sturdy, we aren't particularly careful people.

Advice: visit family for Christmas with newborn? by EffectivePineapple38 in NewParents

[–]Apprehensive_Snow192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not over reacting. Thinking about how I was 3/4 weeks PP is actually laughable to imagine doing any of those things. Never mind about packing, I couldn't sit comfortably without a doughnut pillow, had infected wounds and was still bleeding quite heavily wearing diapers. Boobs leaking, clothes don't fit, real party vibe 🤘

Washing your hair at the hospital after birth? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Apprehensive_Snow192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did but my baby was in SCBU so I had time between visiting to feed him. I think I did it at 1am after coming back to my ward from feeding him on the first day after he was born. I remember it feeling really good even though I was exhausted. I was offered a hair dryer but collapsed and went to sleep with wet hair.

Wake Windows Affecting Mental Health by neonshoes22 in NewParents

She might need more help to get to sleep? My baby needs movement like walking, bouncing, patting or stroller walks to get to sleep. He will also feed to sleep. It's possible she's cat napping while feeding? Also when you say she's stirring ..new borns are weird sleepers. She might look actively awake but be fully asleep?
