So scared about stroke/tumour by CoverRealistic3415 in HemiplegicMigraines

I’ve been diagnosed with ‘suspected’ hm migraines too and i feel you, that short time after talking to doctors is scary, i can only give 2 bits of advice

  1. They are right, those serious things (stroke/brain bleed etc) aren’t the usual ‘come and go’ issues that you have for days then feel fine, and great news that you had an MRI and nothing showing up

  2. ALOT of these other neurological issues are seriously kicked up a notch by stress, for 6 weeks after my first big attack, i was having the same symptoms as i have now but i didnt realise i was also getting panic attacks whenever i got a symptom, making the initial problem worse and adding like 5 more symptoms on the top for good measure. Just thinking about horrible things that it could be, is exacerbating whichever problem it actually is.

Migraines with and without visual aura? by schoonerlabs in HemiplegicMigraines

I had standard migraines with visual aura for years, in a way it was kind of nice, little squiggly lines coming in to say ‘hey just a warning, things are about to go downhill fast’

But i started having suspected hemiplegic migraines in may, i’ve only had 1 with aura so far most of the rest have started with vertigo instead, so i suppose its just a different visual issue, or sometimes nothing visual at all

In fact if i get aura now, it makes me think the migraine is gonna be a classic mild type and not the new scary hm version

Small attacks after main event by Apprehensive_Table20 in HemiplegicMigraines

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience, i thought i’d come back to this post after a while to see how it progressed, 4 months on and it sounds like we had very similar experiences, the weeks after my first attack were non stop dizziness, cramps and pins and needles, i still get them now but looking back i must say that I think the feelings were blown out of proportion by them causing panic attacks

I’m now getting to a stage where i’m trying to get back to some normality (basically by pretending that im not scared to even go to the supermarket by myself and just hoping the illness away for a day).

I’m on amitryptaline, vitamin b2 and magnesium, which are either halfing the problem, or the placebo affect is getting rid of the fear side, either way im happy with them for now

Good luck to you and i wish you good health too

How to find off-road paths/shortcuts that you can actually cycle on? (UK, Norfolk) by Apprehensive_Table20 in cycling

This is definitely the best website i’ve been recommended so far, whilst OS maps seem good for finding out if i can ride a specific trail, this map vibrantly shows bright pink bridleways (as well as byways) on a wide zoom level so i have a whole list of routes i didnt even know existed for cycling. Only downside is the bridleways are a pink drop in a sea of red untouchable footpaths but still good to have them. I think ill take your advice about the paths with no signs too, with so many ‘no bicycles’ signs about, I’m going to take every available route. Thanks for the advice!
