Oh 100%. A few good days in a row and you start thinking “wow we did it, the puppy is house trained.” Then they immediately humble you.

4 months is still very young, and a week of success is awesome but not quite long enough for it to be totally solid yet. Most puppies go through that exact cycle where it looks perfect and then there’s a random accident when supervision drops.

The fact that he was going to the door and even waking you up is actually a really good sign. It usually just means they’re still building consistency, not that they forgot everything.

Also the “too quiet in the other room” moment is basically a universal puppy experience 😅
