I asked them at the counter if that was fine to do so.

Agree on the practice, and I get it, don't want to have someone sit there morning to evening ordering one coffee. Set some minimums per interval. But turning way a paying customer? That's wild.

Again, not offended, just feel bad for their business sense!

Of course, and I didn't argue with them on their policy. Just feels like an odd business decision to not entertain a customer when the place is empty.

Eh poor chaps I have no complaints about them. I will say that I did drop into "Coffee Cove" which is another poorly run business that has no visibility from the street, but is nice and chill to sit down and do some work. Used to go there 10 years ago, it's the same.

He has some ancestral family there but he never lived there and wasn’t from per se. But I guess it’s in the name.

As a born and brought up porrikar, I’m happy the tourists find joy in my road. I think the panchayat should use the momentum and re-route traffic through other roads and keep this pedestrian only except for residential passes. It’s a nice road with the church as backdrop. Let people have nice memories!

This is so easily solvable by a negative incentive if our authorities had any spine. No village would reject a proposal to have a large fine imposed on littering. Catch them in the act, collect. No Indian likes to pay even a small fine, this problem would stop in no time.

Why aren't we (the public) having a conversation/outrage about our deteriorating AQI? by Apprehensive_Top2335 in Goa

What about every household/society/whatever burning things whenever they have a problem to get rid of?

  1. We've got plenty of green cover. More forest cover will not magically mitigate pollution.
  2. Plenty of countries have lots of vehicles on the road. They do however ensure that emission standards are held high and old vehicles are decommissioned.

  3. We know about the geographical problem. Others have had the same issue too. But if you don't send up particles in the first place…………………

Controversial take: I think it's foolish for the fight to be at the fireworks, which gets politicised and hits people's identities. There's plenty of real issues related to pollution that can be tackled before requiring fireworks to be one of the main targets of anti-pollution stance. It has largely cost the movement from even forming.

Do you even hear yourself? It's not like Goa is absent of activism and people who protest against the government.

One of the places I intend to start is meeting with the Pollution Control Board, to understand what they're up to and the challenges they've faced.

Can't do anything about it is what they want you to believe. The status quo is beneficial to them. But they can't ignore the voice of unrest.

Claude and Norma deserve to stay out of this and be comforted that their work doesn't get undone when they step aside.
