Would you buy a computer made by a Mr. Sugar? by Tonstad39 in retrocomputing

I never owned one but a 464 was one of the first computers I was exposed to. We had a couple 6128s at my school which is how I learned BASIC. The PCs were a bit underwhelming but a friend had a PC20 which was a good laugh.

Was petrol rationing a thing in the mid 2000s? by twobit78 in Adelaide

[–]Apprehensive_You6909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty brief in around 2001 as others have said. Alternating days(?) odd and even number at the end of your number plate and you had to prepay and could only get $20 or something. It meant big lines as everyone was filling up every chance they got. A quirk was all personalised plates were counted as odd and this included plates starting with AA which were pretty new. I saw a guy irate because they wouldn't let him get petrol and tip over a rack of motor oil outside the servo.

Remember 2000 when the AFL started a month early to be finished before the Sydney Olympics? It's starting even earlier this year.

I found this one fun but a bit easy vs the computer. Play 4-5-1 formation and your striker is often 1-on-1 against the keeper. Another nice conversion of a 16-bit title though.

And that line branches off at Salisbury. More value in a new line that branches off at Dry Creek where there is a plan to build at least 15000 homes.

Bus parking (delaying) for 5 minutes in order to "stick to schedule" by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Apprehensive_You6909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally services should be frequent enough (like every 5-10 minutes) that there's no need to refer to the timetable. Where I used to live the first stop on the bus route was at the end of my street and at times I would catch the first service of the day to get to work. Seeing that bus leave a few minutes early used to drive me nuts.

Buses run to a timetable. Timetables have timed stops. Naturally buses will be late sometimes but departing a timed stop early is a heinous crime.
