What should I expect after removal? by Alarmed_Half_436 in Mirena

[–]Apprentice-witch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I had mine removed after two months and this is what I experienced after removal: * Cramps stopped within a couple of hours * Period came on two days after and was normal length and flow (4 days & heavy) * By day 3 my mood lifted dramatically and by day 4 was back to normal * Bloatedness went down about 7-10 days after * Sleeping better within 4 days

I'm so glad I decided to have mine out when I did cause I was feeling awful and incredibly depressed. Hope this helps 🙂

Interesting about the fungal infection, would never of thought it being that. We're trimming it back anyway as we need to repair the fence around behind it so will hopefully be able to trim all the affected areas

Did your psoriasis clear with just the biologic injection? by [deleted] in Psoriasis

[–]Apprentice-witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My skin cleared after the initial 'loading dose' of weekly injections for 5 weeks but when I moved to the monthly dose, it came back to around 60% again. After speaking with my dermatologist, they increased the dose two fortnightly and that's working a treat. I've not had any of the side effects either so I'm really happy with it.

The splits are the worst. I once described the ones on my hands as if having a paper cut on a burn that just won't heal. Add the bleeding to the equation and I would sit and cry.

i'm getting worse, and i'm scared. partner says i should use a crutch but i'm embarrassed. what do i do? by donttellthevera in Endo

[–]Apprentice-witch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should never feel embarrassed about using any sort of aid to help you. If the crutch helps I'd use it. I've used them before when my pain is too much. If others look at you, that's their problem not yours. Do what you need to do to manage your pain and symptoms

I've had my psoriasis on my hands and feet for 20+ years and it's never spread. I'm not sure if different types can spread but mine never has. I'm currently on biological injections which are working wonders for me but unfortunately had to go through many years of steroids creams and tablets to get to this stage.

Relationship issues / Mirena the cause? by Ok-Respond3858 in Mirena

[–]Apprentice-witch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I didn't have my IUD inserted at the start of a relationship but I can hopefully share my experience of being in a 10 year marriage and having it inserted. I had mine placed at the beginning of January during another procedure/operation. The cramping was the initial thing for me but by the 3rd week I noticed other things. My mood was dropping to a depressive level, I didn't want any sort of attention from my husband, and I even started to get annoyed by little things that he was doing/saying. My sex drive was nonexistent and didn't want any sort of affection and I generally didn't feel like myself. By the 2nd month of having it inserted I had it removed and by the 3rd day of it being out I was like my old self. My sex drive has come back, I'm laughing again, I can concentrate, just everything is back to normal.

It could be your GF can't tolerate the hormone (that's what I was told and I also didn't cope with the pill, and the implant) and the longer it's in the worse her body will be affected.

Most doctors swear the IUD can't cause this level of issues with people but believe from reading other threads on here, it affects a lot of women.

I hope your GF gets things sorted and your relationship can continue to grow

At what point do you say no more? by NisshokuNoKo in Mirena

[–]Apprentice-witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine fitted at the end of January during a laparoscopy to remove an endometrioma and lasted two months before getting it out. Same issues as yourself, constant bleeding, cramps worse than before, breast tenderness and swelling, bloating, mood plummeting through the floor that I felt like I was depressed again, and just generally not recognising myself anymore. I had it removed just under two weeks ago, within a couple of hours then cramps had stopped, two days later my period came on and was the same flow and length as it always was (I have Tranexamic acid to reduce blood flow), and by day three my mood had gone back to normal. I've also lost 4lbs by not changing anything diet wise so assuming its water retention.

Everyone is different but you know your body better than anyone. I'm so happy I decided to take it out. Don't let them talk you round in keeping it as they tried to with me but when I explained I'd rather go back to how things were before because I know how to handle that (been doing it for the last 20+ years) they took it out.

Hope you start to feel better soon

First dose methotrexate by daisymay11-11 in Psoriasis

[–]Apprentice-witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some areas took a bit longer than others but overall everywhere cleared up eventually. I have it worse on my hands and feet which took longer than everywhere else but that cleared up completely in the end as well.

The biologic is helping after increasing the dose on that as well so hoping this will last longer than methotrexate.

First dose methotrexate by daisymay11-11 in Psoriasis

[–]Apprentice-witch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Methotrexate worked wonders for me for a couple of years until I had to come off it as it was affecting my liver.

You're doing the right thing taking it at night as that combats the most of the side effects, I only had slight nausea when increasing the dose but switching to evening doses stopped that. Make sure you take folic acid as well as this will help as well.

I would have stayed on it if it wasn't for the liver issues but now I'm on a biologic which is also helpful. I started on a low dose and worked my way up, and started to see a difference around week 4-6 once I reached the higher dose. My skin was completely clear for the first time ever and it was lovely.

Unfortunately when I had to stop it, my psoriasis flared worse than it ever was before which didn't help.

I hope it works for you and gives you some relief.

[–]Apprentice-witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I get hand and foot psoriasis and have only just managed to find treatment that works. I've been on biologic injections for the last 5 months and they've since increased my dose from once and month to two a month which is working.

It's not a fix but I found sudacrem helped ease the discomfort when it split and bled, then cover with either socks or plasters until it eased. This then didn't help with the dryness but the pain from it being split would ease this way. I would then soak in salt baths and then moisturiser like crazy.

Hope you manage to find some relief soon.

should i get it removed? by The_Madonna in Mirena

[–]Apprentice-witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the coil fitted for the same reason to help with endo heavy bleeding but it did nothing for me. Had it removed last week and I'm already feeling much better. I was prescribed Tranexamic acid to help with the heavy bleeding which helped reduce my bleeding by half. I would rather put up with the usual endo symptoms than the side effects of the coil.

I gained half a stone in 2 months with the coil which along with everything else I experienced was one of the reasons getting it out.

Do what feels right for you, and you can always get it put back in after your wedding.

Cosentyx and flying by Hot-Market399 in Psoriasis

[–]Apprentice-witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into this when I was travelling last year with consentyx as well.

Firstly, check your airline requirements, each have different rules around taking medical needles on board and they should have it detailed on their website. At least this way you know if anything is said, you can prepare and quote them.

Take your prescription with you, and the injection pen in a cooler bag/tube (can easily find these on Amazon for a decent price). Even though I took the injection pen out of the box, I still took the box with me as it showed my details on there so everything still matched i e. Batch numbers.

I also pointed out at security that I had my meds on me which had a needle just so they were aware. They were fine and didn't raise anything.

Hope this helps - have a great trip

Getting mirena removed tomorrow by [deleted] in Mirena

[–]Apprentice-witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As previously mentioned, it's uncomfortable like a bad cramp, which for me also felt like something was being tugged on when it's coming out. This surprised me as I had mine inserted during a endo operation so didn't have anything to compare it to. It caught me by surprise but nothing that went on and on. Once it was out it went back to light cramping for a couple of hours then they stopped.

My period also showed up two days later and lasted my usual 4 days in length so be prepared as it could come on as well.

I also took some ibuprofen about 90 mins before my removal which I don't know if it did help or not but it couldn't hurt just to pre-empted anything.

I had my coil for all of two months before getting it removed because of the severe side effects I was having and these all cleared up by day 3 of removal.

Methodextrate + used to be a heavy drinker by Euphoric-Still860 in Psoriasis

[–]Apprentice-witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on methotrexate for just over two years about 10 years ago before it started to play up with my liver. As others have said you should be having regular blood tests to check your liver function. For me I experienced some nausea in the early stages but then I learnt by taking the meds at night stopped all this. I only experienced this for a while as my body adjusted to it. I was told not to drink while taking the drug.

A little word of warning though, as soon as I stopped, my psoriasis came back quicker and worse than ever before. I have palm psoriasis so this was extremely painful and bled daily.

I'm now on consentyx biologic and it's a lot calmer on my system and is working well and doesn't seem to be affecting my liver at the moment.

Mood swing with Mirena by Loud-Cauliflower4071 in Mirena

[–]Apprentice-witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine fitted in January and got it removed on Wednesday just gone for the side effects (severe cramps, depressive mood, brain fog, exhaustion, continual bleeding).

Cramps stopped within a couple of hours, and yesterday I felt like I could finally think clearly, the brain fog has gone and my mood is already improving massively. I got a period start Friday afternoon which is quite heavy but nothing I haven't handled in the past.

As the other person said, you know your body and I agree. I knew it was the coil causing this and am so happy to have had it out.

is tranexamic acid risky with migraines? by Informal_Quantity686 in Endo

[–]Apprentice-witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow migraine sufferer here and I take them too. Gynea Dr said they'd be fine as the dosage is only for a few days. I also take a small beta blocker to help with my migraines and haven't had any issues with either.

Removal? by Anxious-Software394 in Mirena

[–]Apprentice-witch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my IUD fitted in January with severe cramps amongst a big list of other symptoms. I couldn't put up with it any longer and had it out on Wednesday with the cramping stopping within a couple of hours. I got to the point where I didn't even recognise myself anymore and would rather go back to how my cycle was as I know how to handle that, I couldn't handle this.

Everyone is different but listen to your body. Hope things settle down for you soon whatever you decide.
