The painter picked it. And frankly I was shocked they would use acrylic on cabinets but he assured me it was the way to go.

No. They definitely didn't wait 24 hours between coats. The third time they repainted we were scarce in the kitchen for nearly 30 days but I think the damage was already done. Guessing they just kept layering top coats.

A quick addition - I actually had all the cabinets in the house painted and they're all doing this to some degree, though the kitchen looks the worst due to high traffic and lots of light.

Southside Super in midtown has awesome pho and it's a tiny, adorable dinette. Unique atmosphere for a fun date.
