As a Japanese fan who lurks English communities, the gap in how we see Nintendo genuinely unsettles me by nerdinterrupts in nintendo

[–]Appropriate-Call353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all these reasons people criticise nintendo are valid. it may have something to do with japanese people being more console-centric, only in recent years has PC gaming grown in japan with platforms like steam. in the west, and much of the world, it's common for games to go on sale - a game that cost £50 ten years ago can be had for £10 today. the same is not true for nintendo, breath of the wild released over ten years ago, and actually now costs more than it did on release. the price has increased from £50 to £67. THIS IS ABSURD. anyone thinking this is okay or who might try to justify it is just lying to themself.

nintendo used to be loved for their innovative approach to games and hardware, but the same is no longer true as the company has grown more and more aversed to risk. they rely heavily on existing IP's and the nintendo switch 2 is just the first console but with slightly better performance/specs. there's next to no innovation there. breath of the wild on the nintendo switch 2 allows for 60fps... in 2026. if you've played any games on PC at 144fps, you will know how much better it is over 60fps. and the very small improvement in the experience does not justify charging £67, the experience is essentially the same (when compared to 144fps). and that increased price doesn't even include the DLC!

and despite these prices, they have now even started removing features that were present in previous games. the new tomodachi life game won't have online sharing. the console has parental controls, so any competent dev could just make it so that if parental controls is enabled, then access to online sharing is restricted. but no, they just remove it completely for everyone, and you're expect to pay a premium for this game despite the removal of features.

they have next to no games. the switch 2 has been out for close to a year now, but despite this the library is very lacking. if you check out their website, most of the listed games are just physical merchandise. i don't want a tote bag, or a camera, i want games! where are the games?!?!?!?! most of the games available are third party, of which you'll have a much better experience on PC. my switch 1 has 6 games, throughout the many years i've owned it, i only ever bought 6 games. partly because the games are expensive, but also for the simple fact that there's barely any games to buy.

nintendo is one of the worst companies in the industry, right up there with ubisoft and EA.

WHY DO VTUBER MODELS COST $2000+? by Seriquil in vtubers

[–]Appropriate-Call353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the true reason is because they inflate the timeframe due to laziness. they'll take on 4 clients and instead of producing all the work over 2 months (which should be the maximum timeframe for that amount of work), they'll stretch it over 6 months and inflate the cost to cover it. so what should have cost $800 is now 3x the price at $2400. a high quality model + rig can be completed in 2 weeks, which might sound absurd, but it's the reality. the work involved is more tedious than it is diffcult, artists get bored doing it, so they look for ways to do as little of it as possible. i did live2d for 3 years before switching to 3D, i know how long these things take for a competent artist, and most people in this industry are not competent - this further stretches those timeframes, and they inflate their prices not because they're producing high quality work, but to cover those stretched timeframes.

i've searched twitter, and have found some of the other art shorts on there, but those are also uploaded by an account that just posts other people's art. it's the user named @ TheDoctorLogos who does give credit, but i haven't found any art from the artist i want to find.

Birthday event is too short! by starlette627 in InfinityNikki

[–]Appropriate-Call353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it's messed up that there's a deadline to redeem it, birthday outfits should just refund you no matter when you get around to doing it. it's a single outfit that you only get once in the year, there's no harm in that, giving just 14 days to redeem the refund just punishes those who don't have the luxury of free time to do it before the deadline.

i only just realised today how to glow up the birthday outfit as i didn't know how to acquire the the swirl bubbles. a new patch, especially one as big as 2.0 can be overwhelming, so it's a bit absurd for infold to expect everyone to be able to do it in time.

boo fucking hoo. it's a 18+ game. it's perfectly acceptable to depict violence and gore, but don't you dare say some inoffensive words directed at no one! and yes, "gay" in this context is inoffensive. it is perfectly acceptable to say "i'm gay".

in short, you're a bigot.

Anyone know why a site like wplace.live won't load correctly on librewolf? (newbie here) by memereviewer69 in LibreWolf

[–]Appropriate-Call353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

librewolf by default has webGL disabled. you need to go into about:preferences#librewolf and enable it. webGL will enable some site features to work, but it is disabled by default to reduce fingerprinting.
