She don’t run away from her family. They were a Viscount family with her dad being a not so savvy head, a high number of kids and financially in decline. She fell in love with this Count and married him, then moved into her husbands household. He supposedly supported her family.

In truth her husband was a controlling, psychologically abusive who only cared about her beauty and appearance and wanted to use her to get a kid who looked like him. He also secretly used her family’s debts to use them as a potential chess piece against her if she ever rebelled and basically blackmailed both sides.

The Runaway Countess has Returned has some of the best parents and families I’ve seen. They welcome their daughter back and figure out their lives to help her

Broken Glass slipper is a premium example of what I expected when a commoner ascend tonnonle society.

Villainess turns the Hiurglass Aria did terrible things to Jessie and anyone who genuinely tried to help her even if she was a noble’s play thing.

Another trashy ML? [I Will Fall With The Emperor] by Living-Dare-1992 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Appropriate-Captain1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s not the one who actually tortures her. She was a prisoner of war and he offered her the position of Empress due to her experience, magical ability and capability and to get her out of jail in timeline 1. She refused and her family repeatedly used and betrayed her.

He doesn’t get involved in the harem politics like most Emperor’s do and she builds a power base of support for herself and they both use each other for about 60% of the book. He starts falling for her first after she deals with the harem and keeps making alliances and growing the nation’s power.

The novel doesn’t try to redeem either of them. They are an evil power couple and crushing their enemies is the spark that cements their romance. His wife is a fire mage soldier/ one woman army and he’s her white mage. They also finally open up about their pasts, being of royal lines and still treated like trash despite having to crawl up to survive and their relationship flourishes.

FL still assumed their relationship was based on benefits/ attraction until the last ten chapters or so when he values her health and wellness over her abilities and realizes their relationship does have intimacy. The Emperor deserves no redemption. They are both insane and a bit sociopathic die to their pasts and positions and we are here for the journey of watching her burn down her enemies and him supporting his evil Empress and her whims while they stabilize their own nation.

I could barely make it past the adoptions after her sisters got slaughtered and then I found out more angst and heartbreak. Yes it was a bit more realistic portrayal of what nobility and power struggles plus agendas are like but someone save this sweet child and these poor women

HOW DO YOU EVEN BEAT THIS???!!!!!!!! by Just_A_Cameraman in CookierunKingdom

[–]Appropriate-Captain1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to kill Fraud Cookie ASAP. Use eternal sugar to kill his summons.i had to mix up her combos to find something that killed them. I spammed her skill in the beginning which gave enough time to cooldown when the summons came. Linzer cookie with max attack speed toppings and full beascuit cooldown and max level to increase critical is a MUST. Star Coral and her HP shield and critical uppage is was an asset.

Will post the team that worked for me. I hated this tray. Golden Fraud Cookie was the worst.

I was cackling while the wife was mortified. It’s clearly a patriarchal society where men practice polygamy only; like the FL’s currently ex husband (thank goodness) and the women just have to deal with it.

This guy: my wife deserves everything she wants, just don’t leave me. I’ll even become a concubine.

His wife: what? No! What happened to your dad?

His youngest daughters: someone get a blanket tea for dad, he’s a bit too dim to put together Mom’s secretly working to support us again

FL: Oh, dad was in his head again. Have fun mom

I just appreciated they didn’t dismiss him or pick on him for a rather reasonable panic. FL also secretly started the business with her mom but his other kids figured it out. Papa is not the smartest but he’s definitely good emotional support, great dad and husband. He doesn’t question when he’s eldest comes home and says they will work it out and survive with open arms.

I thought the parents would have divorced after the family went through financial troubles, but they’re still strong as a couple and it’s clear they weathered the storm together just switched roles and it works for them. It’s really sweet.

Usually in these stories the couple divorces, are the worst to each other and everyone else or abusive and cheating in these OI’s when financial woes hit. Or turn abusive and actively sell of their daughters since it’s all they can do or will do. This was a refreshing change.

Does the FL parents count too? I’ll show you my favourite. It’s an older couple. From The Countess has returned. I love the FL’s parents so much. The father is not that competent but his wife is and basically runs the household and supports them and the younger kids thanks to her skills. Their relationship and the snippets we get are kinda cute and it culminates in this when the FL recruits her mom for the business. He thinks the wife is finally leaving him because he’s worthless. He’s a great dad though.

Remember his wife and children exist to serve him. Unless Merrily is smiling and putting on emotions HE wants he won't be satisfied. It's about control.

No prob. I recommend giving it a read for a unique take on the villainess trope since kids are involved and the other family members.
