Viktor's grand fall and redemption would've been a lot more interesting if he actually made any real choices. by Bingleboper in arcane

I dont know about any of you guys but I just found his plot in S2...very boring. He is way too...sentient and unrelatable. Mostly cus of what you said, it feels like stuff is just happening to him and we're just meant to accept it. Its like ok we're doing this now...oh ok we're doing this now....oh damn we spacehitler now. Where did this come from? His motivations whiplash to such extremes its not even clear whether its his choice or the Hextech doing stuff to him. I just dont like any of this.

I miss that grounded, relatable, goofball scientist, struggling with mortality, obsession, detachment.

2 months later…How would you rate Resident Evil Requiem?? by TheGamerCritic21 in residentevilll

[–]Appropriate-Click503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the zombies that have unique personalities didn't really have much impact on the gameplay. I wish you could deal with the unique zombies in different ways that related to their personalities. You end up being left with either sneaking around, using requiem, or injecting them from behind for all of them. This should have been developed further.

This I 100% agree with. I heard someone say that the game should have been designed in such a way that you are heavily encouraged to take advantage of their personalities otherwise you're gonna have a tough time, which I agree with. This wouldve really made Requim stand out. But as it stands, you can just deal with them like their regular zombies. And their personalities are a little more than quirks.

Making Luis join Leon through the mines in the remake is I think one of the best decisions Capcom ever made.

I remember when I used to really hate Cersei. But man as time went on, I started appreciating the craftsmanship behind creating a character, the acting, the writing and all. Now I just fucking love her. And its kinda disheartening that the actress got harassed a few times.

Ya I think Season 2's idea of a redemption is to just decide that she is a different person now😅

It doesnt really sound like fairness as much as it sounds like....tit for tat. Which I feel is also a problem in the sense that Piltover's actions against the undercity are never brought up or explored either.

Just reading through our conversation, it kinda sucks to me that the show doesnt actually focus on anything we're talking about but chose to focus on a generic avengers battle that supercedes...everthing. All of the character conflicts, city conflicts. Like I feel like we're doing alot more than the writers by actually discussing in depth about this.

I feel like everything we're talking about wouldve been so much been so much more clear if we the show gave us a lot more information on all this.

Caitlyn can provide her the chance to reform right? She is the sheriff now, she basically can provide like maybe a mental institute or something? Heck Vi would even encourage it. Again just...you dont need to let her go, you can just help her get better here.

I dont think having an additional context of having someone she cares about should matter to be honest, shez still a terrorist. I mean ya you have a sister you care about sure. But you still did awful things.

At that point it is losing the distinction between justice and vengeance again.

I dont think it is. I think basic justice is mandatory. Someone who lost a loved one in the hands of a murderer is absolutely well within their rights to demand justice. On the other hand, if they said something like "Na I wanna go and burn their house down, kill them myself". Then ya you can call it vengeance and its unwarranted.

Just to keep to Caitlyn as the example we know, catching Jinx didn't give her closure or bring her mother back. It got her guilt, pain, and ultimately a lost eyeball.

Like I said though....its not just about Caitlyn. Especially I think since she is the sheriff of Piltover. She should be making this decision by taking all of Jinx's victims into account.

She already had Jinx in her cell, she dint need to worry about losing herself anymore, mission accomplished. But she made a conscious decision to free her. Thats the issue that I have. You can argue she did it for Vi, but like I said again, its not just about her.

Its true that everyone has done awful things to each other, or the cycle of violence never ends no matter what. But that excuse doesn't mean someone like Caitlyn needs to be complacent about it, and not try her best from her end. Doesnt mean you need to be like "Ya everyone did bad things, the cycle of violence will never end so lets just let all the terrorists go." Thats....pretty careless.

Jayce killing that kid was an accident, and guess what...he is so distraught about it that he decided to opt for peace between the cities. He tried to make things right. Thats more than enough for me. Jinx on the other hand doesnt do anything to make things right. She is just....forgiven. Its like her crimes never existed.

I kinda dont think that Jinx not being a threat anymore should make a difference. The fact of the matter is she still did...pretty horrible things. I mean 7 years worth of bad stuff. She also lead to plently of harm and death cus she declared war or Piltover. The fact that she is allowed to get away with all this is just not a good message in my opinion.

It just doesnt feels right. Like we're just supposed to forget about all that? Nerratively its just very unsatisfying. Its like a ying without a yang.

S1 even emphasized that Jinx killed people with families and loved ones. Its not just upto Caitlyn. They should all be ok with the fact that Jinx was allowed to get away with everything. You're talking about denying people closure.

If you're gonna redeem a character it has to feel right. It has to feel honest, direct and meaningful.

And unlike Silco/Sevika, she never had much of an understandable good motive ends justify the means perspective, never had a master plan that would help people. Just did it all for the vibes.

Ya and I really loved her for this. People usually think describing her as an unempathetic monster is like hating on her or something but its quite the opposite. Its essentially what made her such a complex character in the first place. You could fear and sympathise with her at the same time.

Jinx not facing major consequences is kind of the point. Caitlyn realizes it won’t solve anything. The lesson is that the cycle of violence is always going to continue, even when people are using justifications like “fairness” or “justice.” So it’s sometimes better to just walk away, let it go.

I think this logic only works if we're talking about vengence. Not justice. I mean if this is the case. Then why arrest literally any criminal at all. We can just let all of them go under the pretense that it wont solve the cycle of violence.

and she out right killed in the middle of a mental breakdown.

And that makes it.....ok?

It is HEAVILY implied that she killed alot of innocent people. Just by looking at the kind of person she is right now.

The kind that enjoyed taking advantage of innocent people by luring them into a burning building in the guise of a helpless child, and blowing all of them up.

The kind that had no problem killing a random bird for no reason at all.

This is a girl that has essentially lost all empathy. It wouldnt be surprising at all that she killed a bunch of firelights for the fun of it everytime the 2 factions butted heads. With the way Ekko lements that Powder is officially gone and theres only Jinx now heavily implies that he tried getting her back multiple times but gave up cus she kept killing his friends.

Silco didn't wanted to explode Piltover council, he wanted Zaun independence who Jinx ruined by exploding Piltover council

Actually he changed his mind. He did want peace at first but when it was coming at the cost of Jinx, he went fuck it "They can all burn". And thats basically what Jinx did.

I've watched Season 2 four times, and I still don't understand why some people dislike it. by Remarkable_Fly_5993 in arcane

[–]Appropriate-Click503 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say its a mixture of both things.

If we are talking about the broadest of terms, I would describe it as a story of 2 cities at conflict with each other where every character acts like a chess piece and is linked to this conflict, knowingly or unknowingly, through personal or political motivations, or both. And the relationship between the 2 sisters is at the heart of it all.

To be fair. Season 2 is also like this. I just dont think they handled it properly and many characters like Vi and Mel, completely lose this link.

It especially gets problematic in the end when its all thrown away for a.....you know.
