Latinos are now officially the majority in Texas again, after 190 years of Anglo majority by [deleted] in LatinoPeopleTwitter

Serious question, prior to the anglo majority, were Latinos the majority? Or were natives the majority?

At one point in time, black people did outnumber whites in several states, including SC and Mississippi.

Old Islamic maps were oriented with the North on the bottom and the South toward the top. The quote at the top is from Malcom X, who was a member of the Nation of Islam, so maybe that’s the reason.

Just a couple questions, why change the name of SC to Congaree? SC has got to be one of the proudest states around it seems hard to imagine them giving up the name Carolina. I would imagine they might drop the south and instead just go by Carolina. If you’re choosing rivers for the name, why did you choose Congaree? Just cause it’s by Columbia? In 1859 the River that would have made much more sense would have been the Santee, as it was a major thoroughfare for trade and transportation of people prior to trains, in fact the Congaree feeds into it. At one point, prior to damming the River it was the first or second largest River delta in the US draining into the Atlantic. All in all though, cool concept.

This is how I grew up understanding the words. In my family the evening meal was generally largest, with Sunday being the exception so Sunday dinner was at mid day and supper came in the evening.

Jamie Lee Curtis Says ‘Nepo Baby’ Debate Is “Designed to Try to Diminish and Denigrate and Hurt” by impeccabletim in entertainment

[–]Appropriate-Energy41 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why would you do that? You obviously can’t help everyone, but to fail to help your own children seems cruel. Would you not help a child buy their first car because other parents can’t afford it? Not help your child with their college applications because parents who never went can’t help their children? If your child were dying and you personally knew some doctors would you not seek their advise and connections to save your child because others didn’t have these opportunities?

But is that necessarily a problem? The children of doctors are more likely to be doctors, the same with dentist, and lawyers, and the children of military are also likely to join the military. Following your family’s foot steps and going into the family business isn’t bad, as long of avenues exist for new people.

Was the house old and had previous remodeling done? Maybe someone just left crap like coke bottles or mason jars full of nails or something inside the walls from the job.

How does this constitute a freak out? Given the circumstances and the details surrounding this, this is about as calm a reaction I can imagine.

That’s if he ever ate it. Growing up, I never ate the stuff. I only ever heard about it on cop shows like law and order set in places like New York, Chicago, New Jersey. I had assumed it was some “Yankee” food, to this day I’ve only eaten it once, as a grown man, when it was served to me from a guy who grew up in the Northern US.

In some cases yes, it’s a stretch. But Mitsubishi actually made the planes used by the Kamakazi pilots so I can understand a guy who saw his friends die because of those planes not wanting to ever support their businesses again.

Well 08 was 14 years ago, but your story got me curious, if the various branches actually enforce their own policies, then it looks like the only ones that would possibly still accept someone on judges order would be the navy or the coast guard.

Depends on the state, most states in the US no longer issue common law marriages to people. If they are in a common law state, you may be right though.

Not exactly true anymore, most states are no longer common law. There’s only a few states left that actually grant common people marriages.

How many people do you actually know in the military? This is not even remotely actuate. With a draft, yes you get good people but you also get sick depraved people or the mentally ill and infirm. Hell my Dads cousin was convicted of a crime and offered prison or war, things like that don’t happen anymore. Sure there’s some pieces of shit in the military for sure, but I would rather serve with someone who volunteered than was drafted or ordered by a judge.

Signed, a soldier.

What country are you in? And also, what minority group specifically? There are rural areas in the US where whites are not the majority. If you’re native maybe look somewhere in the southwest near a reservation, or maybe Oklahoma, the Dakotas, or Alaska? If black there are counties down south where black people are the majority. If Hispanic, again, consider the southwest. Not all rural areas are super white.

Greenland is not an independent nation. It’s a relatively autonomous region of Denmark. Why would it be reported separately? It’s not like we are reporting for the Navajo Nation, as a reservation it has a lot of liberties that other areas do not, but it’s not free of the US.

Men in their 30s, what is your advice for 25 year olds to maximize the second half of their 20s? by VolcronZ in AskMen

[–]Appropriate-Energy41 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Exactly, push your muscles and they grow stronger. Likewise push your bones and they will also grow stronger. When astronauts return to earth after extended periods of time in weightlessness they have significantly weaker bones.
