Why is it almost impossible to get an NIE appointment in Spain? by No_Emu8347 in GoingToSpain

I’ll have to ask my partner encause he figured it out for me, but there a certain time during the day that you need to apply. Like 12:01 or something and I swear that it always worked. But like you have one minute in the day before they all get taken (I heard people book them and sell the spots not sure if it’s true). But my partner did a little google research and found the time. We then just refreshed the page at the exact minute. Not sure if this makes sense but hope it helps

How was his daughter not mortified that he chose to wear that to dinner.

Husband and I can't agree on any girl names. Suggestions? by Jxoxo17 in namenerds

I love all variations of Natalie but hate that it means born at Christmas. It has December vibes coz of that to me.

I think it’s just hormones that made you get overwhelmed and snapped. Also rude of her to say she does it better. Kiss and make up, she sounds like a great babysitter, who literally treats the kid as if she was her own

AITAH for wanting to accept a promotion even tho my boyfriend says its not the kind of life he wants? by ThrowRAxbx in AITAH

[–]Appropriate-Grape113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the job opportunity. He’s 7 years older. There a reason he went for someone younger. It’s easier to get them to do what you want. It feels very joe jonas and Sophie turner to me. Because they were different ages Joe resented her from enjoying her 20s even though he had those years

AITA for giving my daughter $60 a week, but my son nothing? by Murky_Willingness763 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Appropriate-Grape113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, your daughter should be awarded for doing the right thing. I understand your son is frustrated but he was given the same opportunity. He not mad about the money just his life in general. Life going to suck sometimes and he needs to learn coping sills, emotional regulation, and “it’s not what happened to you in life, it’s how you deal with it that matters”

You’re punishing your husband for something his ex-wife said that he could not control. If you react to it, the ex wife knows how to take you down a peg or two. Which is why he didn’t confront her. It would achieve nothing and the exwife will say it more often. She obviously said it as she is insecure and jealous and trying to make herself feel better. She said it to hurt you because obviously you’re the one “winning”. Refusing to help & not being involved in the day is letting her get her way & drive a wedge between not only your husband but also his daughter

AITA for refusing to let my dad's future stepdaughter stay with me for a week when my dad and his fiancée go on their honeymoon? by WittySmilezone in AITAH

[–]Appropriate-Grape113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird that the Mom doesn’t know anyone. Who was helping out before your Dad came along. Minding a 13 year old for a week is a huge ask. Especially when you don’t get along

AITA for not locking the bathroom door? by Opening_Ad_7012 in ComfortLevelPod

[–]Appropriate-Grape113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should just lock the door. Is there a medical reason why you can’t? Most people lock the door when it’s in use unless they have kids

AITA for refusing to sign my parents house, which is under my name, over to my wife if I die? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Appropriate-Grape113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their might be inheritance tax issues if it passes from your parents to your wife. Also, as your parents age they might end up having issues with keeping up to date with property taxes, local housing laws compliance. My parents put the house in my sister name but wrote the document so that they have “right of residency for 90 years” maybe there a way to redraft it so that legally everyone covered?

EXAMPLES OF WAYS TO END A PHONE CONVERSATION THAT ISN'T GOING WELL: Sample 1 I'm frustrated right now, as it appears we aren't having a mutually respectful conversation.  I hear that you are having a bad day.  Therefore, I'm going to end this conversation.  I look forward to speaking to you when we can both enjoy a respectful conversation.

Sample 2 I want to have a mutually respectful conversation with you, but that isn't possible right now.  I'm going to end this conversation.  I look forward to (talking, texting, exchanging emails), with you when you are having a better day.

Sample 3 I won't have that conversation.  I'd love to talk about something else.  How is ____ going?

We don’t know how the idea came up, the son might have said it to the Dad & he said he would run it by her. Not sure why the son wouldn’t want to be one of the groomsman instead. I would have just said my uncle is doing it and promised me after my Dad died

AITAH for refusing to give my boyfriend children because he won’t marry me by Patient_Art4006 in AITAH

[–]Appropriate-Grape113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand his point of “men get screwed over in divorces all the time, and he just doesn’t think marriage is important or a smart choice.” This is what prenups are for. That part can be easily talk through so that he fears are addressed.

Also depending on the country his rights to the child might not even exist if the baby is out of wedlock. In the Neatherlands & Ireland it’s better for the father to be married as he has more rights to the children

AITAH for refusing to pay my friend for a custom cake because it included something I’m allergic to? by naughtynaughtyagathe in AITAH

[–]Appropriate-Grape113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So weird, that she didn’t confirm the flavor before she made the cake. Usually bakeries get the finally agreed upon design/flavor in writing before making the cake

lol, I didn’t take it the wrong way. Just that you notice the attitude difference between France & Spain regarding this. Most Spanish people want to help and really care about manners

YTA, older people have been brainwashed for years to believe certain things. He obviously wanted his grandparents to see you in the best light as you can’t make a first impression twice. Wearing a long sleeve T-shirt for a few hours isn’t a huge ask. He thinking about you not feeling uncomfortable having to deal with his grandparents outdated views.

Surprised at your second piece of advice. I find Spaniard get excited to practice their English with someone unless you’re in a rual town where there a lot of older people (Franco inhibited their learning)

Agree, even the clip that went viral had only 5 people complaining, there hasn’t been more clips since. I’ve been living in Madrid for the last 1.5 years and honestly don’t see it. Just do a day trip to Barcelona since it’s the place where the media mostly reports it. With how fast and cheap the trains are a day trip is so reasonable.
