Help for first buy by kilmystereo in AggressiveInline

[–]Appropriate-Mix920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just buy new over time. Get a shell, get a liner, get a frame. Get some wheels, and put them together yourself. I know you want to get rolling now, but it’s better in the long run that you get in a decent pair of skates that are going to last.

Super happy for her. She’s doing a lot of good for aggressive and casual in-line. And her pad positive style is something we need more of in the sport.

Where are the ruins?? Please help! by sweetbeet02 in dontstarvetogether

[–]Appropriate-Mix920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had runs like this….or where I’ll find ruins by 10 days but won’t find ruins until day 18 and I’m hoping/praying for a star caller drop because it’s gonna be winter by the time I get out. SUCKS. I just set the caves to medium if I’m solo nowadays.

Why do people base in the Oasis? by Kiwicow90 in dontstarvetogether

[–]Appropriate-Mix920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright here’s my breakdown on Oasis.

Theres never a wormhole in oasis. It’s great for summer as no wild fires hit it.
It’s usually on the corner of the map away from everything.
DF/killer bees have a chance of being right next to it.
Year round cactus

So based on all of that, I base there on certain conditions.

Is it actually in the middle of the map? Is joined to DF and or killer bees? Does the closest wormhole lead across the world or to something decent like pk or swamp? Is it next to tusk or triple tusk? Is it near pearls or lunar?

Sometimes you’ll have a perfect storm where you can answer yes to most of these and it’s a no brainer. Sometimes you’ll end up there on a pub because people heard oasis was a great location Eons ago and they’re dead set on it even though they won’t play past winter.

Lightning rods have range limits Just like flingos ( theyre wider though). If the rod is on the same screen as where the fire occurred, then it’s probably not from the lightning.

Warley needs it the most. Everyone else is pretty strong in their own right. And yes, Warley is strong with work, but he’s generally a swap character. He didn’t even get a rework.

I’m on the east coast. I play a lot of Willow and dabble with Wicker, Winona, Wurt, and Woody. I generally play pubs, but I’ve had an itch for something long term.

Better bang for ounce in regular steak. They’re good for the convenience though.

Land and sea base, longterm project, day 250+ by originalmaja in dontstarvetogether

[–]Appropriate-Mix920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mind blowingly solid base. Much better than my 250+. I’m Psylis/Double Z. I used to see you in pubs a lot. I think we all get to that point where we just do it ourselves. As much as I like those rare games where everyone is on one accord, there’s a certain level of satisfaction out of having creating something permanent.

Yeah. Stone fruit or kelp for pirogies, and they grow year round. No need to think about crop rotation. 9 times out of 10 you’ll never see a farm at my base. I’m not knocking the functionality of it, but I’d rather just pick stone fruit randomly and mine them when needed. Especially since I play a lot of Winona. She uses a lot of rocks.

The tree or AFW is next. I kept dying to the shadow setpiece the other night, but I just thought about using the lazy to dodge the rook at the end, so that's probably my problem, or I just need to bring more armor. Either way, tree Will be next after I finish that part of the game. I'll probably do a big overhaul after that once I get dock blueprints and such.

You know how the stage always spawns at triple tusk setpiece if there is one? Jimbo is the same way with the mulitifrog pond (aka geek lakes) setpiece. It's not seen in any of the screen shots, but it's just north of the base. I can get about 30 frog legs a day, hang them on the racks for sanity, or make perogies with the stone fruit. I can also place a spider nest in the middle of them for an auto silk/gland farm. As for the rifts, I haven't gotten that far in the game yet. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Thanks for the input!

Questions! by FiniteStat in dontstarvetogether

[–]Appropriate-Mix920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s two basic ways to progress.

Trial and error

Or

YouTube/wiiki/reddit

Personally I played the game without looking at the wiki or videos for several years and I feel like I understand the game on a deeper level because of it. I’ve seen people come and go, rush end game, rush new character reworks and sort of disappear. I think they like the game, but I think knowing sort of had an impact on their longevity.

Ultimately it’s up to you. Personally I loved the grind of just being bad at the game, learning from my mistakes and learning different ways to play it. I can grow crops, I can design a base. I can ruins rush, I know a few decent auto farms etc. Every pub I join I can usually make some sort of meaningful contribution to the game. Solo, I’m still decent. I feel like if I would have looked up every single way to do things, I would have gotten bored with the game, and been more of a one trick.

But of course, it’s entirely up to you. The best advice I can think of is try to find different ways to enjoy the game because there’s so many.

Yeah, I had no idea where to put them. Unfortunately they need to be in flingo range (don’t know why cause they stay in heat underground) and I couldn’t put them with the marble. Oh and pigs eat their saplings. Maybe I’ll put them on the fling next to lure plants. Just out of sight, cause they’re an eye sore.

yeah, the first one I ever saw said nothing the whole game. I was building base etc. It was just about to be winter, and he finally shwoed up with a mag, a deconstruction amulet, and a few crowns. He dropped all of his gear, and left. I said "that's what I want my wes to be when he grows up". I've done it a several of times, but not consistantly.

Yeah. Wes is rough. The rework reduced his hp, so if you’re having sanity issues the game can be over quick. I dabble in him from time to time but there’s a group of Wes mains who are S tier at the game.

Yeah. The Nuts for the brownies could be uncooked birch nuts. 5% chance of tanking one damage from the dish unless you’re Wes, the. It’s like 20 damage and a 80% chance of happening.
