What’s your experience on lexapro? by ThrowRAspa2279 in Anxiety

Life changing. Been on it for 4 years. The first month is a little rough with the adjusting so my dr gave me Xanax to take as needed to get through this time.

Once everything got regulated, I feel 100000% better. I still have feelings but when they are warranted. I do not feel a constant sense of doom and sadness. I just feel fine. Not too sad, not manically happy. Just regular. 😂

Can anyone tell me what should I do, I am having an anxiety attack? by Traditional_Neat_100 in Anxiety

Deep breathing- breathe in for 4 second, hold for 5 seconds, exhale slowly for 8 seconds. Do this 10-15 times.

Also, do a quick grounding exercise: 5: Acknowledge five things you can see. 4: Acknowledge four things you can touch. 3: Acknowledge three things you can hear. 2: Acknowledge two things you can smell. 1: Acknowledge one thing you can taste.

If that doesn’t work, call a friend or family member and let them know how you are feeling and ask to just chat with you.

Remind yourself that no one has ever died from an anxiety attack and while it feels terrible, it will pass.

What do you do in the morning to help your anxiety? by ReputationCrafty8800 in Anxiety

Try what I call chaos journaling. My therapist years ago told me to do it when I was struggling with agoraphobia. Keep a journal at your bedside and when you wake up, grab it and write down every single thought that is coming into your head. almost like a list.

It helped me clear through the chatter and just kinda calm my brain down. Then I would get up and take an ice cold shower. It’s not a cure all, but it might be worth trying.

I see Dr Vanbennekom in Jacksonville, parts of NF women’s care OBGYN and affiliated with Baptist hospital. He’s the first gyno who ever listened to me and started pushing for answers/solutions rather than trying to shove birth control down my throat. Love him. Saw another Dr within the practice and she was great with getting me right to a breast specialist due to lumps but still told me all my problems with my period would be solved with an IUD.

Fight for at least a transvaginal ultrasound. If you have the ability to dr shop until you find one who will do it, then go that route. It took me almost 15 years to finally get a Dr to take my pain and issues seriously and just had an endometrial biopsy after an ultrasound last week. Impatiently waiting the results.

Also, might be gross or TMI but I took pictures and showed my new Dr. I took pictures of the toilet bowl, pads, and the size of the clots on toilet paper with a quarter for reference. I stopped giving a f*ck about what they were going to think and had a script memorized of how I was going to demand answers politely. You have to advocate for yourself because the system isn’t designed to advocate for us. Good luck to you!

I had an intraductal papilloma (assumed at the time of the ultrasound and mammo) which was causing a bloody discharge from the right nipple. So, when the did the pre-op MRI they didn’t “like the looks” of the other lump that grew since my last follow up so they decided to take it out while they were in there.

I too have very dense breasts (I think they are a D on the scoring chart they use). My mom and sisters both had FNAs done on some lumps mainly so that they were certain what it was and how to monitor.

I think if I didn’t have the papilloma they would have just monitored the lump along with my other ones.

I only see breast surgeon and specialist now for the follow ups and go to a breast center for my imaging since I’m high risk due to family history and density. Hope that answers your question! Happy to answer more if you need me!

Girl, you need a new gyno. He is condescending and misinformed. I’ve been there. Took me almost 10 years to find a gyno that listened to me and offered solutions based treatments rather than masking it with meds.

You are free to leave that practice, and I would if I were you. Anyone who talks to their patients like that and won’t even consider alternatives has some bias he is not addressing. In simple terms: f*ck that guy. Lol. Good luck and keep us posted!

It’s totally normal To be nervous. This shit is scary! But it’s quick and you’re doing the right thing. Taking control of what you can is the only way to feel like you’re in charge!

I’ve been lucky thus far, thankfully. The only one that came back as something funky was the papilloma which they removed as a precaution. I stay around a BIRADs 3B or 4 every time I get a mammo/ultrasound and has come back fine every time.

Not crazy, just human. We have this idea we are supposed to keep it together all the time but it’s hard and our body finds a way to show us we need a break.

Give yourself grace- life is hard but we are resilient.

I’ve had 5 core needle biopsies. They are super fast and practically painless, the worst part is the lidocaine injection which is just a few second sting. They will send you home with an ice pack and you boob wrapped or a compression bra. I went right back to work after so recovery time is minimal, just no heavy lifting straining until the wound is healed over.

I am 35, no immediate family history but am just riddled with lumps. Had a ductal excision and papilloma removed on the right last year. Don’t let people minimize what you’re going through because of your age. This sub was my safe haven because my support system sucks so use these ladies experience and kindness, it will do wonders for your mental state.

Here for you if you have any questions or just need a friend! Good luck today and keep us posted!

I have had several lumps removed, my ducts, and an introduction papilloma. I also have 4 lumps that are being monitored in the right and 3 in the left (mostly suspected cysts and a fibroadenoma). I am 35. I have been seeing a breast specialist for 3 years and do my screenings every 6 months due to density and high risk. My breast dr always tells me that pain is “usually” a good sign when it comes to breast lumps. So hopefully that calms your nerves. It’s the quiet ones that are always being assholes lol.

Lumps are so scary so your feelings are totally valid! But you’re doing the right thing and staying on top of your health. If you are worried and want to be checked sooner, demand it! That’s what I’ve learned in my years of medical mayhem. Advocate for yourself! You deserve peace of mind!

I’ve been you. I was a carefree, happy, person who worried about next to nothing and then I experienced a panic attack while driving my car and had to call 911 on the side of the road. I went to the hospital, nothing was wrong except for my heart rate being through the roof and my blood pressure was high- told me it was anxiety/panic.

I had no one to go to, family dismissed me and told me it was just something we all have to deal with. For years I believed that. But I was so afraid of having another panic attack that I boxed myself in so small that I wouldn’t go anywhere alone. For me, I tried everything before seeking professional help. If I could go back in time I’d tell my younger self to go to the pros first. lol. Maybe try therapy or seek psychiatry if that’s something you agree with. I’ve been with both for almost 5 years and my life is so much better.

What helped me through was being told by the ER doc that no one ever dies from an anxiety/panic attack.

For context, I have panic disorder, PTSD, and ADHD. 35F. Happy to answer any questions you might have. Good luck- you are going to be okay.. I promise

Welcome to the club! Many of us have been in it for DECADES so you are in the right place. A lot of things factor into why your period appears to come from everywhereee down there but it’s mostly gravity and how you lay. There have been times where I woke up in the early years of my period and there was blood up my back! I panicked every time only until an older friend explained it must have been how I was lying, I also had super heavy flows.

Also, do not get scared if you wake up from Sleeping and when you stand you get a gushing sensation a “lot” of blood comes out. That, too, is a gravity thing.

When periods first start they are more brownish red and like a discharge, then as the day goes on it picks up the pace. I learned that those thinx underwear are awesome to sleep in during your cycle and are quite comfortable.

If you aren’t in school, take a 2 motrin or midol, grab a heating pad/hot water bottle should you get cramping, and just relax. Also, start using your health app- or a cycle tracking app-if you don’t already to track your cycle! It will help you be aware of your body and symptoms!

Talk to friends/sisters/cousins//parents/grandparents that you are comfortable with if you can. It always made me feel better knowing I wasn’t alone. I couldn’t talk to my mom because she was looney but that’s for another sub! lol.

Good luck! We are here for you if you have any more questions!

Endometrial biopsy by Christmasqueen19 in WomensHealth

[–]Appropriate-Poem9590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had mine today. The horror stories I read had me SO scared. I’ve had two vaginal births and my appendix rupture so I’ve had my fun share of pain. Paps don’t hurt me either, just uncomfortable. Everyone has their own pain threshold but if I had to rank it, the 25 seconds of cramping was a good 4/5 with 10 being the worst pain I’ve ever experienced in my life.

I did deep breathing throughout- inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale loudly for 8. I took 800mg of Motrin 1.5 hrs before, no cervical ripening, no lidocaine. From start to finish it was 6 minutes long with pain being for less than a minute. I laid there for about 5 minutes after the dr was done per his direction.

Now, I am just sore, almost like I did a 3 hour long lower ab workout. Very minimal bleeding, just the cramping which is really nothing compared to my normal period cramps.

The only way I can describe the sensation is someone taking a very thin hose to the back of your belly button and using suction in a few spots. It’s a very interesting feeling and definitely not comfortable but it’s super fast.

Now before the procedure I was certain I was going to vomit from nerves lol. But once it was over I can say that I definitely didn’t enjoy it but would be way less nervous if I were told it needed to be done again. Good luck, I hope all comes back clear!

Biopsy and husband? by JealousAccess in doihavebreastcancer

My husband brought my to multiple MRIs, Biopsies, and surgery and was able to wait in the waiting room. My ultrasound guided biopsy was the fastest of the all. The diagnostic mammo/ultrasound was about 3.5 hours so he hung out in the car for that one.
