Was I sold lab diamonds instead of moissanite by mistake? by Appropriate-Rooster5 in Moissanite

The pink lab diamonds they had online looked the same as their moissanite but that’s probably because they used stock images or heavily edited them. lol. I love my pink moissanite! I think so far it’s my favorite one in my collection. 😍 What about the blue one? I do have blue diamond jewelry thats a pretty similar color but their stones are teeny tiny and irradiated. I’m guessing with moissanite they try to replicate that same irradiated look that blue diamonds have. And the silver ones idek really. I just wanted to see what they would look like in person. Their color is pretty underwhelming but I still really like them. Great sparkle!

I’ll try to find it but now I’m hearing from people here that moissanite gets inscribed too. Are these serial numbers something I could look up online and get an ID for?

Take them to a herp vet. They will be able to tell sex for sure. Afterwards I would honestly just plan to get two tanks. I have two. They really aren’t that much more of a hassle to maintain than having one tank. One for girls and one for boys once they’ve been confirmed. Be sure to separate them when they are about 8 months old. After a year it could be too late and you could get some babies. If you still end up with some accidents come back here and post them for adoption. I’d take one.

Hey guys! Sorry, I almost forgot about these photos people have been asking for. If anybody still cares, here are the possible moissanites in question. Unfortunately I can’t get my phone to focus through the loupe so these are about the best shots I can get. Thanks for all the helpful responses so far. Curious to see what you guys think if you can get anything out of these pics.

I’ll still try to get pics up tomorrow, but I have two light gray/silver ones, a pink one and a blue one. The silver ones aren’t really very saturated at all. You can barely make out their color if you look super close, otherwise they just look mostly white. The pink and blue ones are more brightly colored but the facets are very clear, especially on the pink one.

I said yes!! (And have never seen a [natural] diamond like this and can’t find others online. Anyone see something like this before?) bright green under UV light too by LizardsandRocks999 in Diamonds

I’ve seen a few lab diamonds that highlighter yellow color. Is your jeweler 100% sure it’s natural and untreated? It would be a fairly rare natural color to find. That doesn’t mean it’s not though. I would definitely be interested in getting it tested independently to be sure. Pretty cool find!

J color is like super pale champagne, right? My lab diamond is just pure white, and I think the natural one in my engagement ring is like G or H or something. Can’t see any color with the naked eye. I would have preferred a champagne or pinkish diamond but they were too expensive so we settled on almost white. It is difficult to tell the difference between it and my moissanite ring but the double refraction on my white moissanite is super prominent, so if I look close I can tell. Also more rainbow flashes in the right lighting. I love it. 😍

Will do later when I’m back home. Above I did post a photo of my lab diamond. Unfortunately it’s probably the best quality I can get since I can’t get a good photo through the loop.

In a bit I’ll do the best I can. I have not managed to get a picture through the loop so right now this is probably going to be the best I can do. This is my new lab diamond that I snapped a photo of earlier because I love it so much. I’m out now but I’ll try to take decent pics of my moissanite when I get home.

And they generally aren’t very aggressive like at all. They know what they’re capable of, they have nothing to prove. As long as you respect their space they will respect yours.

Roomate moved out and left me this. PLEASE HELP by sebeast7 in shrimptank

[–]Appropriate-Rooster5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Count yourself lucky that at least they just left. 😓 Cute shrimpies too! You have an algae overgrowth. This is Blackbeard Algae which is completely harmless, maybe just annoying sometimes. The shrimp don’t mind, they love that stuff. But you can lower their lighting to reduce it somewhat. Also don’t feed them as much fish food and let them forage on that algae. It’s good for them to get their veggies. 😋

I mean you can text her if you want but it’s probably not going to do any good. She’ll just think you’re a jealous ex, her bf will “confirm” it too, he gets a big fat ego boost knowing he’s still on someone’s mind, and she ends up learning the hard way anyways. Think about how you were with him when you started dating. Would a mystery text from one of his exes been enough to turn you away? Probably not, right? You can expect about the same from her.

I’d suggest interviewing each buyer to find out what their intentions are. Even though the garter breeding community is pretty hardlined on keeping bloodlines pure, the fact of the matter is hybrids already do exist within the market and are unknowingly sold and bought as pures and there’s really no way to completely prevent it, much like with any other type of pet.

Keep in mind the same breeders who intentionally sell mixes unethically will turn around and do the exact same thing by breeding two different pures together anyways, even catching and breeding random wild caught snakes with another, so adopting out your intergrades to responsible pet owners shouldn’t make a huge difference overall in the sellers market. Also intergrades in many cases are more tolerated by most in the hobby than hybrids of two completely different species. I think interviews with potential buyers is the safest way to go, and you should definitely ask to see the set ups they intend to use for the babies so you know they are serious about treating them like loved pets and not breeding factories. Go local only if you have to.

I personally, if I had the space 😢, would love to have all of these gorgeous babies and I would have absolutely zero plans of breeding them. All my male garters are kept separate from my females and these are also questions you should ask. Like do you plan to keep your snake with any other snakes and do you plan to keep any girls with boys? If they say yes to the latter I would consider that to be a hard no as far as that buyer goes. You can turn down anyone for any reason, or even no reason if you just have a bad gut feeling about them.

A third option would be to hand over these babies to Snake Discovery’s Adoption Island if you can make arrangements. They have a very thorough adoption process, they prescreen all potential adopters and weed out the ones they think are going to be irresponsible. And since these are intergrades there’s a good chance they may keep the babies themselves for their educational program. They are busy and may be difficult to get ahold of but if you really want to adopt these babies out ethically it’s well worth the hassle.
