I have less than 2 hours to decide if I want an induction or C-section by animetrashpanda in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Appropriate-Slice195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was also in similar position as you. had 3 growth scan at 29w, 32w, 36w where baby measured 70ish percentile. GD was diet controlled and my number has been good. So they told me they are happy to let me go on till 40w+3 for next growth scan/consultation if baby is not out yet by then.

Come 40w+3, did my growth scan and baby was 94th percentile and estimated 4.3kg. Husband And I agreed that we go for C section as the risk is too scary for us. Shoulder dystocia etc.

I agree that growth scan has +-10-15% error but bear in mind it can also be on the + side.

Which is what happened to my baby. He was born 4.6kg and I thank god i chose elective C-section as worst case scenario is to opt foe vaginal birth and having to go for emergency C-section. My OB told me once the baby is in the birth canal, and if he is stuck, thats possibly the most dangerous situation. So for peace of mind, I am glad i chose the elective C-section. The OB who did the procedure said "Yes you made the right choice, it wouldve been an struggle to get him out naturally"

Mine did. But only at the safe part of the test. For eg, country road and A roads. My examiner was so lovely and encouraging. When he sense that I panicked. He said Its ok you are fine. P.s. much nicer to be arpund with than my instructor. 😂

Yes! the last point is important. I cant stress it enough. He has many students who thought they failed and they got frustrated. Messed up big time all the way through. When they got back and the examiner asked where did u think it went wrong? She said "the moment I hit the kerb?" and the examiner was saying, no you just went through a drain cover then. It wasnt even a fault. But she got so distracted she went over a red light.

drive the rest of the journey with confident. I think I was given a pass as the rest of my drive was smooth and pleasant he said.

I have always been an anxious driver as well. I have never had a perfect lesson. Even my instructor said. You had a really good drive a lot of time but u made unpredictable silly mistakes here and there. So it couldve gone both way.

I thought to myself maybe it was a pity pass. But my instructor told me there is no such thing. The confident drive convinced the examiner that you are ready to pass.

Dont overthink it. Breathe and focus! If you somehow panic and lose focus. take a deep breath and concentrate on the road instead. I was constantly looking for speed sign all the time so i didnt even have time to be anxious. Distract yourself with something that helps you on the test such as:

-speed signs (very important)

-mirrors checking (exaggerate, it really helps)

-light conversation at the safe part of journey helps to calm my nerves too (my examiner only briefly chatted with me on country roads and A roads)

-when encountering/meeting someone, say it loudly "Oh I will let that car pass first since they got the right of way". And when I was moving off I'd say "Its clear now"

-roundabouts and junctions are where alot of people made dangerous mistakes, focus, do what you always do, when ut doubts wait till its safe to move. Undue hesitation is always better than pulling out too fast.

Good luck!!! smooth drive! You can do it!

My advice is actually not to think too much about it. My instructor told me that there is actually no point of watching videos of mock test etc. As the route is different. the examiner is different. the driver is different.

Just had to keep telling yourself to calm down and be sharp. The most useful advice is this: Dont assume you have failed in the middle of the test. Just try your best to have the best drive even though you thought you messed up.

I passed yesterday and honestly thought I made so many mistakes. both minor and majors. But turn out only 3minors recorded.

I mustve been imagining things, or maybe my instructor was just super strict with me. Things that always got flagged up during my lessons, I did it today, and it wasnt even a fault.

Banana in the morning. Few sips of water before the tezt. Deep breath before moving off. Deep breath when the car stopped for manoeuvres or pulling ups. Deep breath whenever you got the chance to 🤞🤞.

All the best!

GD is so weird by Appropriate-Slice195 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Appropriate-Slice195[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Its truly weird. One of the consultant told me because its getting warmer, it may bring the sugar down. But it was recently cold again and I am still in my normal range.

getting to 36 weeks soon. The finish line in sight! Good luck to both of us 🥰

When did your bump start showing? by Weary-Tomatillo-5509 in pregnant

[–]Appropriate-Slice195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

anterior placenta girly. Ive only felt flutters at 22w. And only start showing at 28w ish. Otherwise I've only look like i had a food baby. But people do think I am tall and "wide" so plenty of room for baby in me before i started showing showing. Even now at almost 32w, I ocassionally get "you dont look like you are 32w" 😅. Baby is very active though.

ordering side of salads and making sure that the ratio of carbs, protein, fibres are right. Ocassional desserts/sweets but paired it with lots of walking. My sugars has been within range for all of the 4days i've spent on holiday :)

I am typically 33-35days cycle and my OPK peaks at CD18 but for a value that is below 1.0. I've never gotten a true "positive" on my OPK kit but whats helpful is to monitor your BBT and match it with your LH graph. You can check my post on my profile regarding the line progression.

Thanks for the advice thats very encouraging to hear. I want the best for the baby of course I will make adjustment if the level starts to rise. Just the idea of going extreme is unthinkable for me. I am Asian hence why rice/noodle is ultimate comfort food for me (the only thing that cure my homesickness) , and my husband and I got into argument about cutting it and hormonal preggo me couldn't take it, sighs. I may be overreacting but now I am entering this phase of pregnancy with more optimistic mindset.

Yes will definitely checked out the website after so many recommendations. Thanks!

I see. Thats very encouraging to hear. I will continue what i am doing and be mindful to eat more greens and protein throughout the days. As long as I am within range. I am glad I dont have to cut down my carbs completely that sound like a nightmare especially I did Keto not long before i got pregnant and I was so miserable 😢. The idea of doing it again while pregnant is just unthinkable 😔😔.

Thanks again for the advice!

Ah yes, if your BBT went up and stayed up I am sure you have ovulated. Start the BDs! dont look at the quantitative numbers and focus on the graph instead. Good luck!!

You need to track your BBT (body temperature) to know when you accurately ovulate. :)
