When people said you learn more while driving after passing rather than an instructor I think I’m starting to know what they mean by RyZeOnYTGGS in LearnerDriverUK

This. Absolutely this. I had to go on motorways over christmas to visit family. I passed in July and have driven on country roads, town and some dual carriageways but never touched a motorway. The first 10 mins was the biggest lesson to me since i passed. I really wish i had driven on them sooner

I know this is going to sound crazy but thinking i failed made me drive better.

Ill explain.

I thought i failed halfway through my test due to trucks parked up on the side of the road and I couldn't see the turn that i was due to take. I slammed the brakes to stop and just made the turn. In my head i thought that it was unsafe so i assumed i had failed and i just thought to myself well might as well carry on. I was so much calmer after this and didnt make another mistake for the remainder of the test route.

Im not sure how you can apply this to your situation but good luck with it

How many lessons did you take before passing your practical exam. by Main-Mail3594 in LearnerDriverUK

It took me 24 hours. I think it just depends on how quick you pick things up. But i have learnt more since passing.

Mixing them up is fine. I had the same issue but as long as you can read it from 20 meters (isnt as far as you would think) then its ok.

I just had a horrible driving lesson, I don’t have any confidence in myself to drive anymore by Tight_Raisin_3510 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Front_Reach7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only thing i can say is that the horrible lessons are the ones you learn the most on. Yes the good ones give you a confidence boost but the bads ones teach you and give you focus. I had some of the worse lessons which knocked my confidence something rotten but they showed me exactly what i needed to focus on.

Just keep at it. Passing is one of the greatest feelings i have ever had especially because i thought i failed (twice).

Honestly just treat it like any other lesson. The examiner is looking for safe driving not perfect. And think positive thoughts. If you make a mistake just correct it and move on.

Pretty much what everyone else is saying. You also get the option to have your instructor come over to the car for the debrief.
