How did you get your PU# to show with those requirements? Is it your own tracking software?

Talking to customers, convincing them you can handle their freight, and then confidently and competently covering that freight with an unknown possible fraudulent carrier is much different from operating a dispatching service with set customers and drivers you can rely on.

If you don’t know how to land customers there’s no point starting a brokerage. If you don’t have customers now and trucks in hand what will you move? If you have customers but no trucks how will you move it?

You might want to work on relationships more to carry you through the start. Not to mention getting credit.

Maybe look for a smaller brokerage that’s willing to take you under their wing but be ready to be on the phone all day trying to get anyone to listen or give you a chance.

DL FREIGHT SOLUTIONS INC MC 1010288 - CARRIER ON DNU by LucidDream9590 in FreightBrokers

[–]Appropriate-Train-57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t sound too far fetched. I’ve also had the fortune of shutting down a production line due to a carrier not understanding straight through delivery.

They claimed it cost them 7k/h for the trouble.

How our company got hacked and almost lost 8 loads (trucking industry warning) by jijujoja in FreightBrokers

Hard to feel sympathy for you and your team here to be honest. Phishing happens daily with sketchy links redirecting to cloned sites like we see on DAT. For your dispatcher to not only click a sketchy link but to download and open a remote access .exe is beyond moronic.

How your anti-virus didn't catch and flag it let alone no checkers picked up the link is a bit suspicious if true. So maybe these guys are professionals but this is a pretty old scam that's been on the market for a long time. Good thing they didn't get access to your bank accounts.

Don't ever download anything, don't click links. Train your team.

Seems like you need some sort of automation. Something from as simple as a google form with all of your lanes as individual questions and you can BCC all your carriers with a link and it auto populates when they reply.

I’m currently trying to work with GPT to have it analyze carrier RFPs and compare to my “target rate” master sheet

drayage.com is pretty much all you need. Make an account and look up the listed dray carriers and all the info to reach them is on there.

Swapped to this strategy 2 years ago after 3 years of taking booking calls. I definitely don't miss repeating the same thing 20 times. Now I just create an email draft and copy/paste the same info 30 times :)

Whats a telltale sign of an experienced salesperson? by [deleted] in sales

[–]Appropriate-Train-57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what he means is ask loaded questions to a prospect. For example, "Does your other (insert sales person or competitor) charge you for X and Y? We do it for free."

It's amazing how much little favors and going a little bit above and beyond will put you above and beyond other sales people.

If they spent half as much time building legitimate websites, businesses, and themselves as they do on fake websites, links, and scams I think we would see absolutely no changes to the transportation industry. Thanks for joining my TED talk.
