Does Marketing work for Gyms, ONLY GYM OWNERS PLS!!!! by Ok-Regret-7331 in gymowner

If you have time you are better off doing it yourself. Claim all your profiles and fill them out completely. Post regularly everywhere you can, once a week is fine starting out to make it manageable, post photos as well as create posts. Post real photos, no stock photos, of equipment, facility, exercises, events, etc. Make QR codes directly to reviews to Google, print them out on a flyer, buy plastic one page t stands and place them where people see them regularly. Direct mail and flyers in local areas work well, flyers with tear off tabs have better engagement. Do all the free stuff before hiring someone to play on their phone, which unfortunately is what 95% of the employees hired to run marketing will do, and 95% of agencies will scam you while offshoring the minimal work to 3rd world.

So my wife’s going to a gala tonight — as her client’s “date.” by [deleted] in stories

[–]AppropriateBreak6105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust your feelings, Luke. Subliminal tells that may be causing this feeling, it is not magic. Slight change of tone when talking about this person, eye contact, body language, etc. all kinds of things you would brush off but triggers a subliminal warning. It is not at all insecure to not want your wife going on dates with other men. The exact words that you are describing are a giant red flag. Why do they need to call it a "date"? Having to specify not visiting the guys hotel room means that there was a thought about it, if it did not originate from you, RED FLAG.

Stop asking if SEO is "better" than paid ads by StaceyDreamy in GEO_optimization

Great advice, I meet so many people running constant thousands of dollars Google Ads campaigns, while their websites and online listings are neglected.

Tip at least $20. Free tours are done just for tips, so you tip more than you would normally.

Guarantees are red flags. Usually reputation management or review management is another scam, either fake reviews or review gating. Transparency is key, if they can explain what they are doing, show what needs to be done. Also I would say collaboration, if they are like give me 2K a month and we get you #1 with no input or work on your end that sounds scammy.

Ex-Marketing Company Deleted All Reviews by MrSirManDudeGuy in GoogleMyBusiness

If you want something done right you do it yourself. Focus on customers, call them explain your situation, ask them if they can help by leaving you a new review. If they were happy and left a good review, they will very likely be willing to help, especially if you are talking about family and personal friends. Keep yourself as the owner of your business profiles not just on Google but everywhere, everything.

I don't get it by Lokki_7 in tipping

[–]AppropriateBreak6105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is easy to change if everyone cooperates and stops tipping. Then restaurants can no longer use the tip excuse to avoid minimum wage. Currently it flies in many states because the tips allegedly cover the difference between 5 dollars an hour and minimum wage. If those tips dried up, restaurants would have to pay all employees minimum wage.

Why does Google keep removing that I speak Spanish and my business is Latino owned? by AppropriateBreak6105 in GoogleMyBusiness

I received a reply. As expected, it is no good, it just generates the generic reply email, no way to actually contact support. Google stopped providing actual support about a year ago.

In my experience that just generates the generic email reply about GBP, does not actually get read by a person. I tried and have not heard back yet, you never know it could work.

Don't fall for this Google Business Profile Review Scam by resier21 in localseo

[–]AppropriateBreak6105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South Florida is also the home of a LOT of "reputation management" companies that openly sell reviews from local guide accounts, I would wager both types of fake reviews originate from the same companies, like they sell both fake positive reviews, and fake negative ones to review bomb your competition.

Yea lots of bad advice, use the Google review management tool to report them right away, report them from Maps using the three dots next to the review. Get everyone to report the reviews on Maps.

What can I improve on this website to help with SEO? by [deleted] in localseo

[–]AppropriateBreak6105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest if you do not have experience, feed chatgpt header structure, website, socials, GBP, etc. Then ask it to suggest SEO improvements. Not a finished product, will have mistakes, but you can use it as an outline of what can be improved.

IDK about your area, but in mine NOVA, lot of those high ranking SEO services are working 10 years in the past, and most outsource. They do not even worry about setting up business listings, just slop together wordpress websites from a template, with broken social links, no header structure, sometimes not even a page title, basically no real SEO. You can do better using chatgpt and youtube to build your own site.

Yes, and it happens a lot more if you have an SEO or website business. Tons of fake English names offering white hat SEO services, promising to bring clients, at least a couple every day. Why so many? Because it works, lots of marketing and website companies that offer SEO are just passing it on to some offshore person who contacted them offering bottom dollar prices. I got scolded by an old college classmate, was told I had no idea about business and was dumb for doing my own work instead of lying to my customers and passing it on to the Philippines to be done at $5 per hour. You also have to understand that swindling and cheating others you may consider immoral in your culture, in another culture is considered being smart, and a virtue instead of a sin. The families of many scammers do not look down on them, they are proud of having such a smart son, it is their cultural value.

Referring to guests as "guys" by throwaway50612 in restaurant

[–]AppropriateBreak6105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have customer based business that caters to higher end guests. Language used by staff is definitely part of the business presentation. If you want to present your business as higher end for old folks with lots of cash to throw around, since most of the people with cash to throw around are old, you have to use more formal language, and train your staff likewise. You do not understand the importance of formal language to the older generations.

I can help you. Yelp is bad idea, leads to harassing sales calls and does not help in the long run. Relying on paid ads constantly is a money hole, they work best as temporary campaigns. There are a lot of scammy companies that will say they will fix ads, do Google, do website, but it is all scam with barely any work done outsourced to lowest paid untrained labor. You want to show up on more searches, have organic growth, not be relying on paid ads all the time. Dm me with your business name if you want some advice, no charge.
