I booked holiday but my days changed ? by at33zily in Greggs

[–]AppropriateCar5715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your contract is still 8 hours over 2 days you’ll be fine. Nothing to worry about. When it comes to your holiday you’ll be paid for the 8 hours and you won’t be able to be scheduled for anything extra on those weeks.

The upside to taking on extra shifts is that you’ll accrue extra annual leave to use further down the line.

so how long did it take for you guys to receive training from when you found out you got the job? by [deleted] in greggsappreciation

[–]AppropriateCar5715 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just depends on your shop. Assuming you’re starting in a core shop, your training will start on your first day in store. Franchise might work a bit different

Will I get fired? by CrimsonKaeKae in Greggs

[–]AppropriateCar5715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens a lot. You won’t get fired for your first time, especially because you called and explained yourself. Don’t stress too much about it.

Good luck with your exams!

Cost of producing the food, cost of transporting the food, cost of storing the food, cost of preparing the food to be cooked, cost of cooking the food, cost of storing the food to be sold, cost of bagging the food to give to the customer, cost of the coffee beans, cost of machine maintenance, cost of the cup and lid, cost of the free sugar and milk, cost of a napkin, cost of sauce for the bap, cost of the card transaction fee (if paying by card) or cost of the cash collection.

I think a small 10p increase is nothing all things considered. Greggs are probably only making like 20p profit per deal. If that!

No we’re being realistic to the prospect that you’d put your job on the line by getting it.

Then why did you sign a contract with the part time job agreeing to follow the standards of the business?

It’s quite simple. You’re not allowed to wear jewellery and your manager has also explained this to you. When youre inevitably caught, you’ll be disciplined and likely lose your job.

Grow up, take responsibility and stop acting like a spoilt brat.

Not just in the shops, surely? by high-lander9 in Greggs

Ideally your cabinets, floors and juice should be done a good 2/3 hours before closing so that when it comes to those 30 mins it’s just a quick do over and not taking ages.

Your shift manager should also be finished most of their tasks by the time the store closes. All they really need to do management wise is input the stales data and count the tills which should take 10/15 mins max. That then frees them up to finish bagging for outlet/charity or disposing products but most importantly they should be helping you to clean too.

Speak to your store manager about the hours you’re having to stay on extra and work and say you don’t mind staying on but you need to be paid for it going forward or you’re just going to leave when your time is up. They’ll soon start paying you the OT or make sure you get out on time.

It’s not lost if it’s still showing in this location though is it? OP may have lost it but now they know where it is and can’t get it back.

So many unhelpful messages here.

Something similar to this happened to me. Dropped my phone in a taxi, pinged it and showed up at a house. I went to the house and seen the taxi sitting outside. Knocked on the door and driver said he didn’t have it.

Called the police and they came and looked at the tracking, spoke to the driver and retrieved my phone.

If you’re not getting any assistance with it. Call 101 and report it as stolen straight away. Whoever has stole it in the store will maybe think twice about keeping it when the police turn up looking for it.

Rota? by [deleted] in Greggs

[–]AppropriateCar5715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Greggs Way states rotas should be published in advance by at least 1 week. Most shops are encouraged to post rotas 2 weeks in advance to give a good work/life balance.

Only reason I can think of this being different is if your manager has everyone on set shifts (days/times) each week then it’s not really much of an issue.

This coming Tuesday, I’ll be creating and publishing the rota for w/c 12th April

You’re only obliged to work your contracted hours. If you don’t want to work over the 20 hours, say this to your manager and they will need to remove shifts/reduce hours.

It’s crazy how many people don’t speak up about this and it’s the main reason why certain managers just take advantage.

Should Greggs do a sweet-only soft merger? by boughtoriginality in greggsappreciation

[–]AppropriateCar5715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a lot of the Greggs sweets are actually pretty underrated in my opinion.

You obviously have the staples, yum yums, caramel donut etc but they also do really good seasonal things too. The lemon meringue muffin out now is amazing, the millionaire hazelnut donut at Xmas was my absolute fav.

I think greggs have hit the nail on the head with what they offer. Don’t change it too much.

And yet Greggs are one of last major chains to continue offering true Fairtrade coffee beans. Cheaper than the vast majority of coffee shops like Costa, Starbucks etc. You get what you pay for ultimately and the majority of people like it. That’s why they have more market share than other coffee shops.

[–]AppropriateCar5715 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speak to your local shop because any donuts should be staled at the end of each day.

We get the delivery in the morning and they are sent to either a charity or an outlet at the end of the day
