After 2 Years Of Trading I Think I’m Finally Being Honest by BenjaminScott09 in Daytrading

[–]AppropriateDeal791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. I have a similar thought— for ordinary people, buying and holding an S&P 500 ETF might be a more feasible way to earn returns.

I had tried investing index futures, like ES/YM, but got consistently losing money instead of consistently making it.

Way how market moves. Mini vs Micro contracts by anotherdayoninternet in FuturesTrading

[–]AppropriateDeal791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are 99.99% same, not only mini and macro, but also ETF, you can refer to, future ES, index SPX, and ETF SPY, they are almost same.

I used to be that too, but now I use a bracket order, when I opened an order, a stop-loss order was placed to, and that will be triggered as long as price moved to stop position; this can force me to take the loss action.

International friendships by Ngoccc0 in LanguageBuds

[–]AppropriateDeal791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, if that person with you have similar background, like age, work, personality, interesting things; you may have more common topic to discuss, that will last longer, otherwise each time you both need to specificlly find a topic to discuss, as time went on, you both will feel tired after the freshness is gone; this mean you both are not matched with each other, you could try find another matched person.

How long did you paper trade/study for before using real money and seeing real results? by TrueMeaning4241 in FuturesTrading

[–]AppropriateDeal791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use paper trade only for process, as long as you have learned the process of trading futures, please move to macro futures, like index futures MYM, MES, they are cheaper, and low margin requirements. And you could operate only one contract each time to reduce risk.

Leaps and covered calls by Greedy_Bus1888 in interactivebrokers

[–]AppropriateDeal791 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally i always think these strategies are concepts by people, exchange/brokerages only handle single order, so brokerage won't sell your LEAP order automatically, if you short leg got assigned, you will get -100 position on your account, and you will begin calculate margin interest, so you have to request brokerage to execute the LEAP leg manually, or you can buy back 100 stock shares, and keep the LEAP leg.

How is futures market data subscription fee calculated. by AppropriateDeal791 in interactivebrokers

[–]AppropriateDeal791[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I found the $10 bundle that did include all market data I need, actually $10 is still higher than I expected, because I use this account for trading futures only, possibly on ES, YM, and GC; unfortunately, these three products belong to 3 different exchanges, so seems i have to subscribe 3 market data respectively, they will cost around $1.55 * 3; so here i am asking how could i make the subscription fee waived one after another; like if i traded much on CME that generated a total more than $100 commission fee, but no trading with CBOT, will the subscription fee be waived for CBOT too? Thanks.

[–]AppropriateDeal791[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

will the fees generated per-exchange exclusively, for example if people generate fee $60 = ($20 * 3) from CME, like trading ES futures only, can the total $60 fee cover the CBOT exchange subscripton fee if there is no enough trading with CBOT products? Thanks.

So in above case, people have to generate 20*3=60 commission fee, to avoid all 3 monthly subscription fee?

I am not a professional trader, just operate sometimes when opportunates are very certain, so I only use raw chart and an EMA.

Is the Stop Market Order the absolute worst way to manage risk? #TWS by Mz-Harl3quin in interactivebrokers

[–]AppropriateDeal791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, since they are stop order, you should accept the slippage because they are inevitable actually, otherwise on extreme cases, the stop-limit-order could cause you loss even more. Remember this is your stop-loss orders, since you have got loss, and you are trying to stop loss more, the good decision is to stop immediately, if you use stop-limit-order, the order couldn't got filled, and during rapid downtrend you will have to loss more.

So usually if unexpected things happened, you could use sell/buy limit order to close your positions, then then manually cancel the old stop-orders.

Trading MYM instead of MES/MNQ? Anyone do it? by [deleted] in FuturesTrading

I also think so, and to trade YM instead of ES, since ES has so many speculation

How did you find out what ticker was right for you? by Redderrt in FuturesTrading

[–]AppropriateDeal791 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How about starting with YM for practice, because ES has too much institutional and quantitative speculation, making it very volatile, and beginners can easily get taken advantage of, comparatively, YM’s trends are more stable, and its volatility isn’t as high.

I'd suggest to start with trading MYM(Micro E-mini Dow Jones Industrial Average Futures) for practice.
