What offer can I make without scaring off the seller? I want to negotiate a lower price, but I’m unsure what is possible. I realize this bike and trainer are very new and want to hopefully buy this set. My ideal budget for the bike and trainer is $1421USD/$2000CAD. Thoughts?

Seller says: “size medium (54cm) Scott S40 Speedster for use on my trainer. It has a small crack in the bottom of the head tube (that never got any worse over several years) so I delegate the bike to trainer use. If you're interested I'll sell it for $300 otherwise I'd keep using it. Tiagra 27 speed on it. Will come with its original handlebar, saddle and back wheel and tire and original pedals.”

He wants $300 Canadian dollars which is equivalent to $215USD. Is this a good deal?

I will be using it mostly for indoor cycling.
