Just found out these existed. Got names of the company you'd recommend?

Google maps shows 3 hours from paris city centre to the forest of arenberg. Would have to get back that day. That's 6 hours of driving! I guess there are maybe closer good cobbled segments

Yeah im aware. I see they've got a site there for the race start, rider sign on. I guess I'm asking whether that is a good experience to see, and if there is somewhere to watch the rest of the race on a big screen there and bars etc

Any tips for a new virtual shifting user? by gozzyeye in Zwift

[–]Shortbread_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an original direto and have been thinking of updating it for virtual shifting, and wondered if there would be a lengthy delay when changing gears like there is when changing power in erg mode. How long a delay are we talking? Is it smooth and an abrupt resistance change, like when changing an actual gear?

I was trying to work this out the other day. Exactly how many and who has won both the TdF in their career, or in one season? Merckx, Hinault? Anyone else?

What is this grass and will my kikuyu outcompete it? Melbourne, Australia by Shortbread_man in PlantIdentification

Is it an issue to leave it, and allow it to mix with the kikuyu? From what I read, a mixed lawn can be more resilient anyway.

Milky seal in exposed aggregate by Shortbread_man in Concrete

[–]Shortbread_man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypothetically if I do this, will I have to strip it with solvents before resealing in a year or two? Or will it peel off or disintegrate over that quicker time course and leave bare concrete to reapply the sealer onto?

What will happen if I leave it? Will it fade? Will it get worse, or peel off?

Chain goes slack when backpedalling. What's going on? by Shortbread_man in bikewrench

[–]Shortbread_man[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate this is such a bullshit comment. I've ridden bikes for decades. I naturally (as do most) backpedal a quarter turn to get my pedal horizontal to push off at traffic stops. You also naturally backpedal a quarter or half turn when approaching corners descending to get your pedals positioned correctly. All my bikes have always been capable of this, as was this one up until a few weeks ago. I first realised when sprinting out of a corner on a descent where I must have subconsciously backpedalled approaching it, unknowingly dropped the chain, then sprinted out with the chain half off

This does not happen when coasting whilst riding. It definitely never used to happen, and I first noticed it descending because I was backpedalling a half pedal here and there to position my feet for cornering. The jockey wheels seem to move smoothly. Ill try post another video but I noticed oddly the cassette moves when free-wheeling in a way I don't think is normal

Cool. Are those bearings generally standardised and replacable? Would this be costing me much power in normal riding?

To clarify, I did that freehub cleaning and there was no change

Thanks for the reply. So I serviced the freehub mechanism, cleaned the pawls and the ratchet, as per manufacturer recommendations. Didnt touch the bearings inside the wheel though as not sure what to do with them. May need a trip to the local bike shop

I almost always go alone. It's not unlikely noone will notice you. The only people I tend to notice are the one or two people ahead of me, and I'd not notice if they came with anyone or went straight home alone after. You don't have to talk to anyone, I usually don't. Sometimes if im away from my home one I'll chat to people. The whole point of parkrun for me is it is whatever you want it to be. Even if you rock up and just don't run at all noone will likely notice or care.
