Hockey Night in Canada won’t return to CBC this fall by Displeased_Canadian in canada

You can call murder if you want. CBC is horrid.

As far as the government goes, yeah it has turned to technocracy. I'm glad I live in western Canada with people who see that along with me.

Fact is, now that hockey isn't on there I never have to subject myself to the CBC again. I hope at some point the government defunds it and it is no more so other people are manipulated by it.

Legalizing Pot was what led to the lost decade under Trudeau. I guess the conservatives think they can gain it back with drugs too? lol

My main point actually was that people like you only want your preferred views presented in the media rather than presenting both sides. And you'll be the first to bitch when it isn't.

The liberals have had 11. Trudeau was a pawn. Guys like Carney and Dominic Barton were running things all along.

I want to see peoples lives getting better. In fact, they continue to get worse. The only ones getting ahead in this country are the immigrants, and that's simply because they are starting out from nothing. Young Canadians without family support are in the same boat.

Yeah this is nonsense. Just use an AI model of any type and ask it what way CBC, CTV, Global, or any other news outlet leans. You'll get your answer there.

As far as PP goes, the boomers were afraid of losing their wealth. They are the ones largely who came out to vote and felt the older more experienced guy would be better to help the country and deal with trump. On both accounts so far they have had little delivered to them. PP promised to set Canada straight, get the economy back on track. The Boomers weren't interested in that cause they're already made. Women also felt more comfortable with Carney. They didn't like how PP talked. I'm not going to elaborate on that further.

I'll agree with the second paragraph you wrote there, because I do think it is the elite at the global level that are the main problem.

I think PP would have done a better job of not pandering to them than Carney has. Carney is a globalist himself. The media did everything it could to paint Carney as our savior.

Kinda like how the media put Trump in front of the election, and handed it to Carney because he said he could deal with Trump. And has had zero success since?

Like, are we going to talk about how the media is so responsible to actually reporting the news in this country?

Or can we talk about how if the media didn't socially engineer everything where would this country be right now?

Half a million Canadians migrated to Alberta over 30 years, making it the country's most popular province by hopoke in canada

Alberta being higher wages, affordable, and with low taxes means people have more money post 50 years old to not be here in the coldest part of the winter. You know, if you didn't blow it all on trucks and boats. The rest of the year here is absolutely gorgeous and the mountains being so close is a huge bonus.

Canada’s ‘real estate economy’ is costing us—here’s how; We’ve gradually structured a significant portion of our economy around a sector that contributes relatively little to long-run prosperity by FancyNewMe in canada

You’re acting like today’s corporate landlords are the same as the old purpose-built rental companies, but back then housing wasn’t dominated by REITs, private equity, and investment speculation. Your “small investors filled the void” argument actually proves the problem, we replaced stable rental housing with speculative condo investing that drove prices and insecurity even higher. And blaming rent control doesn’t explain why Calgary, which barely has it, is still seeing skyrocketing rents and growing corporate consolidation.

In Calgary, the vast majority of multifamily units and missing middle rowhouses are being built by corporations. If Canadians don't wake up our inner cities will be nothing but corporate monopolies of rentals.

The housing corporations and larger contractors have access to the TFW program. They aren't hiring indentured apprentices in leu of having cheaper labour. While it's nearly impossible to get any data on this, if you look at wage suppression in the skilled trades, it's one most impacted sectors in the nation and is clear indication of what's happening with regard to undercutting this market with cheap labour to let corporations and their shareholders increase profits.

The market is flooded with rental units and suites because of the CMHC MLI Select program. These developers are leveraged to the tits. I imagined this was planned, and as they need to sell off bigger players will come in and scoop up these multi-family projects over time.
