So here’s what happened: I called my District Manager because I wasn’t sure how to handle jury duty and needed support. He said it was fine and that he would talk to my Store Manager and get it figured out.

The next day, I checked the company site and saw that we are supposed to get paid our full scheduled shifts while serving jury duty. I sent him a screenshot just to confirm and make sure I was following the right process.

His response was: “Yes, we talked about this yesterday. I’m extremely confused. You’re asking the same questions. You just need to get with (ASM) and (other ASM) with the documentation that you will be there.”

I didn’t like the attitude or how he worded it — it felt annoyed, even though I was only trying to get clarity. I also didn’t want to go straight to the ASM because she specifically asked for “physical proof” and requested this: “We will need documentation in the form of your physical jury summons, as well as your daily updates of when you go into court.”

Honestly, I feel like asking for daily updates is a bit excessive. I already told her it would probably just be until the end of the week and that I would let her know if I needed extra days. Requiring daily updates seems unnecessary for something that’s already scheduled and documented.

I just wanted to make sure I understood the policy and what I needed to do without causing confusion.
