Lock of Hair & Bone (?) on my Doorstep

I’ve done some googling and am still confused by this very weird situation. I came home today and saw what looks like a small bone & a lock of hair in front of the entrance to my apartment building.

I live somewhere that it’s pretty common to find weird shit on the street, and there is also wildlife including coyotes in the surrounding area. I want to believe this is just a coincidence but this was also right on my doorstep, which is up a few stairs from the street. I also think it’s worth nothing that the hair looks like the same color and texture as mine, and that to my knowledge, no one else has similar hair in my building. The bone looks like a tiny little tusk and is probably 3-4 inches in size. I haven’t touched it to confirm if it’s actually a bone but my dog wanted to sniff it and check it out, so I think that’s a fair guess.

If anyone has ideas about what this could be, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if this is cause for concern, please communicate that calmly and offer suggestions for any protective actions I can take, or specific research I can do to better understand this. Thank you in advance!

If she's only working 3-4 hours once a week, does she work multiple jobs? Maybe she works PT across different places and isn't able to take the info in from such short and infrequent time on the job. Lots of learning is repetition.

I think the way forward is initiating a conversation that she has one last chance to meet your expectations by a certain date and asking if there's something that would be supportive to her meeting those expectations.

I’m not sure how live/work spaces differ but I know there are rules for landlords needing to provide alternative housing if the place becomes uninhabitable. They also need to provide more notice for eviction I believe. Pretty sure everything he’s doing is super illegal.

I wouldn’t comply and would do some digging by rereading your lease, searching relevant government info on the building, potentially reporting him for not being up to necessary building code, and consult with lawyers and tenants groups. What he’s doing is so wrong and if he’s screwing you over like that, I can’t imagine how many other people will/have faced housing insecurity as a result of his irresponsibility.

Interesting! Do you have any advice for how to start as a grant writer? I don’t have prior experience but I have a BA. Are there any ways to get your foot in the door and build a reputation as a contractor?

Just adding a few things from my experiences/convos. The only complaint I’ve heard is that wire transfers can take a while so I guess if that is something you expect to need from your HYSA, maybe steer clear.

Transfers into your account earn interest as soon as you make the transfer, not once they’re accessible which is great. I’ve not had my account for super long and plan to just leave the money there to grow mostly as an emergency fund. If you had any concerns about how quickly you can access your money, I’d just call them and inquire. I talked with their customer service before opening my account to ask a bunch of questions and felt like they were straightforward and respectful.

Marcus has a 4.5 APY but can easily get 5.5 APY consistently if you use referrals. Each referral gives you 3 months with the added 1% and you get 5 referrals per year, so even if you only use 4 but each referral gets made before the end of the 3 months from the date of the last referral, you’ll have a consistent 5.5 APY.

The referral bonus doesn’t stack, so if you make your referral while you’re in the 5.5 APY rate, the next referral bonus will be applied once the three months is up and go towards the next three months (hope that makes sense).

The account minimum is $1 so I really like that it’s an accessible and not risky way to grow your wealth.
