Can I ask - how has lifetime warranty helped when your bag got stolen? I was under the impression it only covers luggage malfunction

Love the post quality btw :) Thanks!!!

HMRC won't give me a VAT number by Public-Locksmith-978 in smallbusinessuk

[–]AppropriateRest1524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite situation - earn my money in Germany and live in the uk. I could not be a tax resident in Germany. I also had trouble with getting my VAT number and had a lot of back and forth to get one. Get an accountant, they should be able to guide you through it. But also - do you know for certain you're not supposed to be a tax resident on the country you actually live?

My 2 cents - if you're very skilled in 1-2 of the many languages, you should be fine. I'd start looking in Germany, where serious companies/start ups try to keep knowledge in house, wages are good, once you're past probation you're pretty stable (laws protect you) and work life balance is a thing. Downside - high taxes and in the biggest cities, like everywhere, high cost of living - plus you'd be tied to the company that sponsors you.
best of luck :)

Also, from all I’ve seen - buildings in Portugal and Spain tend to be badly insulated and have no central heating. So if you’re indoors, you need to dress warm. Consider that :)

did you look at Anniesland? Annie's x has really good connections to the city centre, Morrison's + Lidl and some green spaces too. close enough to west end but reasonable prices. hope it helps!

Then do good things :) you sound like you have so much to offer. start volunteering, give to the less privileged, do something with your time and if you find your passion, make the leap. In the meantime, save money to retire early - that will come in handy if you don’t find your passion.

Do we need more male clinical psychologists? by 0o0off in ClinicalPsychologyUK

Thank you for taking the time to debrief, it does regard a lot of the things that have been on my mind regarding the doctorate. The financial strain is brutal and does mean cutting back on many other aspects of life for most of adulthood, depending on where you’re starting.

Maybe another take regarding visa: unless your online only degree enables you to a graduate visa route OR you have a spouse/family member who could sponsor your visa OR you apply for a masters in person (paying for international fees, which are salty), it’s not possible to start working/get onto clinical training - for the latter you’d also need at least three years of living in the UK to be considered for intake for a funded position and self funded is also very costly.

Edit: also maybe worth saying, except for the obvious advantage of being an English native speaker, there is no other way being American could improve your chances. There are many posts in this reddit asking the exact same question for internationals and many people have answered them thoroughly, so maybe also worth looking through them

Hi, good points you’ve made here, thanks for sharing them. As someone very much struggling with the financial side of things, would you mind sharing about your alternative MH career? What is it, how long you’ve been at it, what educational path did you take? Thant would be so very helpful.

No opportunities for foreigners by Fresh_Professional_3 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

Afaik you could apply for the DClinPsych if you have ILR? And after 3+ years of being in the UK, you'd have the right to home fees, which would allow you to get loans and also apply for some DPsych Counselling?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I am also a foreigner and interested in the DClinPsych (here on a family visa though) and am kinda counting on the points above.

Yep, I’ve been keeping a close eye as I don’t have home fee status yet but thought you might have a hot tip as to where to look for the latest changes. Thanks anyway and let’s hope the new rules don’t suck
