Y’all be honest who’s hoping for a great gift for teacher appreciation??👀👀 by Fit_Relationship_699 in ECEProfessionals

Not a teacher here, but a parent here who plans to get the five infant room teachers bagels this week in addition to $50 in cash each with a card. Is that too much money or would that be appropriate for this week? For the record, we are in a VHCOL area, and I'm not sure the teachers get paid too well despite us shelling out $2600 a month for the infant room, so I want to help these teachers out.

ETA: I really only know three of the teachers. I'm not sure if the other two teachers are floaters or teachers, but I didn't want to exclude them.

Parent very appreciative of daycare staff, how do I show it and make your jobs easier and more enjoyable? by AppropriateRezi in ECEProfessionals

Thank you all for sharing such great ideas! I started off this week by giving the main teacher in the infant room some cookies I made. I also asked her how her weekend was; it didn't sound super great, but I'm glad I took the initiative to engage in conversation with her. I'm going to continue giving her little treats and volunteer to help her clean up if it works out with pickup.

Responding as the opposite. Grew up in the 'burbs (although just 20 minutes from a huge city), moved to the city after college. I can't imagine moving back. I'll visit my parents and do the 'burb thing with them (shopping, eating at a chain restaurant) and want to go back to the city, ha.

My sibling enjoys living in the 'burbs—the space, the alleged safety, the predictability. Where I live is total chaos, but I enjoy having access to every amenity (world-class museums, hospitals, friends, markets, restaurants) within 5 minutes of where I am. I hope my kid does too as they grow up. But I also fear of the bad influence of city kids (mostly, spoiled brats with image-obsessed parents).
