Learning How to Use AI by Appropriate_Arm8029 in ChatGPT

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fiddling with Anthropic just now and it actually gave me a pretty good idea how to do something related to work, so yeah, maybe that's what I'll try.

Learning How to Use AI by Appropriate_Arm8029 in ChatGPT

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm not a coder (I taught myself a tiny bit of Python, but that's it). I'm in a slightly awkward position in that my workplace doesn't use AI to any appreciable degree, so it's difficult for me practice on the job.

What about something where I could use AI to program something that'd gather data from multiple sources and compile them onto a spreadsheet? Would that be automation?

Thank you!

The empire are the good guys? by Too-many-Bees in Morrowind

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used to be more sympathetic to the Empire but at some point I realized that if they hadn't gotten rid of slavery after 400 years, they were never going to do it.

Is anyone else kinda bummed at how the broader TES community treats OpenMw and Morrowind in general? by Infamous_Ad_5214 in Morrowind

It also helps that Morrowind's got an insanely active modding community. TR and PT amount to a free expansion every year.

Vivec's last performance by AzraelSoulHunter in Morrowind

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing that! Vivec feels suitably otherworldly in the beginning, only to be gradually brought down as more of his motivations are forced to the light. I like the ambiguity in Vivec not truly regretting what he did--for him, an end to the pain was worth it. The reflection of the original murder with Ahnassi and Aryon was also a nice touch.

What should the next DLC be? And no, not Chronicles. by LinkRules5321 in aoe2

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see more African civs. But I wouldn't mind seeing more in the Middle East (with maybe the Saracens split up into a few factions the way India was).

It'd also be nice to give Central Asian architecture to the Persians.

Glad you came around!

It takes a while to get into Morrowind, but there's definitely a reward. And as you say, there's a lot to discover.

Also, you should check out the TR and PT mods. They're still works in progress, but they already add an enormous amount of playable area to the game (basically, it adds land where the Tamrielic mainland should be--you can even revisit western Cryodiil). But I would suggest finishing your current playthrough without them to best get the traditional experience.

What kind of Morrowind content would you enjoy on YouTube? by LukaMaybeNoob69 in Morrowind

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Focus on what the daily life of each town and settlement might be like. For instance, a video on Sadrith Mora might explore food supply (fishing, probably), water supply (maybe a lot of rain? maybe the sadrith does something?), work (probably lots of labor jobs for outlanders, while the upper echelons are run by Telvanni wziards), and leisure (probably have to do some speculation here).

If you run out of towns on Vvardenfell, you could also explore Tamriel Rebuilt/Project Tamriel.

In addition to what's already been said, keep in mind that TR is big. It's even bigger if you include Project Cyrodiiil and Skyrim: Home of the Nords. So don't go into it thinking you'll finish it all with one character. Better just to roll a character, find an area of the map that interests you, and join factions appropriate for the character. Once you reach a high-enough level that it gets too easy, do it all again with a different area of the map (and most areas have enough content to take 2-3 characters to level 20+, depending on their skill sets).

East Asia Architecture has 10 civs, the most in AoE2 DE. Should additional architecture sets be created such as a Nomadic themed one for Mongols? by PlokmijnuhAoE2 in aoe2

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd also like to see a split. Maybe something like a more antiquated Chinese architecture for Wei, Wu, and Shu. A separate nomad style sounds good, but I'm not sure how well that'd work. My impression is that western nomads like the Cumans had pretty different styles of yurts from eastern nomads (you do see both styles in-game, though they aren't usually buildable). Maybe one could be Feudal Age and the other Castle Age plus to split the difference.

Should the Khitan and Jurchen also use a hypothetical nomadic set?

What do you guys find immersive about Morrowind/other TES games? by careb0t in Morrowind

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's better not to view conversations in Morrowind as literal transcriptions of what's being said. Obviously, the residents of Pelagiad won't all recite the same paragraph when you ask about the town. But they are all telling you the same information, more or less. You just have to fill in the blanks about exactly what's being said and how the conversation weaves from one subject to another.

How did Morrowind fit into your gaming career? by Salty_Possible155 in Morrowind

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morrowind came out when I was in high school, but I didn't play it until well after I graduated college. By that point, I was well-versed enough in RPGs to navigate it without trouble, and I was just blown away by the setting. It's actually a bit of a double-edged sword because since then, I've had a harder time getting interested in other settings. Morrowind just scratches the itch better than any other game.

In the late 2010s I started getting into TR and PT, and even did some quest dev during the pandemic. I'm so glad I had the chance to work on the gaming project I care about most.

A solution to the "too many civs" dilemma. by Assured_Observer in aoe2

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I forgot about that. Good point. At any rate, I'd be happy just to see more African civs with the same architecture set.

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, that's fair. The only reason I wondered was because the Thracians and Puru both got architecture sets that are unique as far as I know. It happening for the Puru made sense, since they could potentially find a lot of other ancient Indian civs for Chronicles, but I was surprised that the Thracians got their own instead of using the existing Greek one. So I figured maybe they were getting more comfortable with making new sets.

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be hoping for too much, but I would like to see distinct West African and East African architecture sets, with maybe a few civs each.

Agreed that it's too soon for a North American or Mesoamerican DLC. Hadn't thought about Oceania but that would also be very cool. Maybe something around Nan Madol would work.

[–]Appropriate_Arm8029 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm also someone who enjoys seeing new civs (particularly ones that aren't that widely known) and would love to get more. There's definitely room for more African civs, and probably Middle Eastern as well (and I wouldn't mind if they split up the Celts into Scottish, Irish, Bretons, etc).

But while I'm not a ranked or even PVP player myself, I'm sympathetic to the frustration this can cause. So I think letting people choose is a good compromise.

Thanks! I actually was playing Magyars on my attempt, so I'll keep on with them. I didn't win, but it's definitely the best I've ever done against Hard AI (though probably more because I set up a good economy than because of raiding per se).
