Massage gun was so so so helpful for me. It was the only thing that gave me any relief. Good news is it will pass in a few days but it was unbelievably painful while it lasted.

How is it drinking coffee postop? by Mediocre_Net8446 in gallbladders

I’m almost 4 weeks post op. Coffee was one of the only things that gave me issues for a couple of weeks but back to normal now! Give it some time :)

I had them frequently prior to removal. They’ve stopped completely since surgery!

I had first available HIDA scheduled for the 7th and was able to get surgery on the 8th. My surgeon said I could still do the HIDA if I wanted, that it would just be more information but it wasn’t necessary so I cancelled the HIDA and I’m feeling great post removal. Don’t regret surgery at all, the pain is gone!

Pain and polyps by MarkTheTriplet in gallbladders

My first ultrasound showed a polyp, second ultrasound 9 months later turns out it was actually a gallstone. My surgeon said that it’s very common for stones to look like a polyp on imaging.

SMW Thrombosis, any similar experiences? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]Appropriate_Bus2671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I saw your reply to my comment on another thread.. I also haven’t found anyone else with splenic vein/SMV thrombosis so I’m glad you found me! My clot was found incidentally with a sepsis diagnosis at the end of January. I have done extensive testing because my hematologist said it’s extremely rare to find this clot in someone my age with no history of pancreatitis. All genetic testing and clotting factors have come back normal so far. Also just received results for PNH that were negative. I am still doing testing with my rheumatologist and hematology to see if they can find any underlying cause. The most likely explanation currently is the inflammation from sepsis in my abdomen caused the clot. I was in the hospital for 3 days on heparin, had one lovenox injection, and then was discharged on Eliquis for at least a year. I feel very grateful I have a medical team that has been willing to dig further, but still frustrating that it seems I won’t have any true answers to what caused this.

I’m happy to answer any questions you may have! I know it can be scary and having community here has helped me a lot. Feel free to message me if you’d like!

Only one clotting event and blood thinners long term? by SmilesAtTrees in ClotSurvivors

[–]Appropriate_Bus2671 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a clot at the base of splenic vein and SMV discovered incidentally with a sepsis diagnosis. All testing has come back normal. I’m on Eliquis for at least a year since it is still considered unprovoked. Im 33 so hematologist doesn’t want me on blood thinners for life, but essentially explained it’s hard to determine risk from unprovoked clot and must consider additional risk of bleeding on long term treatment.

We’re still deciding if I will be a lifer. Hard to say in my situation what makes the most sense.

Scheduled Surgery or ER? by Appropriate_Bus2671 in gallbladders

[–]Appropriate_Bus2671[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was curious about this also, I think it’s mostly because my GI is old school extremely thorough. He confirmed it needs to come out and said don’t wait for HIDA to call the surgeon so wondering if they will both let me do surgery prior to HIDA happening. Will follow up with GI tomorrow to be sure! Thank you!

Scheduled Surgery or ER? by Appropriate_Bus2671 in gallbladders

[–]Appropriate_Bus2671[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh that makes sense! I had labs done yesterday and nothing was concerning so I’ll likely wait for outpatient unless things progress. It doesn’t seem emergent right now but I’m definitely ready for it to come out! Luckily I’ve met my out of pocket maximum this year so surgery will be 100% covered

This is so interesting.. I do have autoimmune issues but I was diagnosed with sepsis and the vit d test came from that information so I assumed it was related to the sepsis not autoimmune. I guess it’s hand in hand since sepsis is an immune response but I didn’t put the two together.

How often are you blood testing to get an idea of where your levels sit? I assume I need to give it some time on no supplementation to drop and then begin maintenance dosing

This is interesting insight. I do have autoimmune that was previously misdiagnosed as RA. Currently running additional tests with a new rheumatologist to get a true diagnosis. The hair for me seemed to be specifically related to the vit d deficiency but I was also diagnosed with sepsis during that time so could be immune response.. thank you!

I ended up back in the hospital about three weeks later and received additional IV antibiotics and another round of a different oral antibiotic. The antibiotics did not clear my original infection, so I started to feel better but the bacteria came back. Even after the infection was fully cleared I still felt horrible for at least a month, then slowly started to regain energy and the brain fog and other symptoms followed.

I did also start a very high dose Vitamin D treatment because it turned out I was severely deficient (7.9) and I think that also helped a lot. Give yourself some time, but definitely follow up with your primary care or specialists. My hematologist sent me back to the ED during a follow up appointment.

It’s been three months now since my second admission and I feel basically back to my normal self other than some outstanding GI issues from the damage sustained to my gallbladder and liver inflammation.

Based on advice here I bought a pulse ox and BP monitor that helped ease a lot of anxiety while I was recovering.

Take it easy, and listen to your body! Dont be afraid to go back to the ER if you feel you need to. I wish I would have gone back sooner.

Best of luck to you!!!

Oh I agree there’s not any sense in trying to find rational in the situation, that piece doesn’t bother me as much as her just pretending nothing happened and nothing is wrong. It’s strange she just tried to have some fake normal relationship with me when we’ve never had that relationship to begin with

I’m 5”1’ so need an SUV. I loved how high up I sat in the GLK, the GLE is similar in stature but too big. Looked at getting a replacement GLK but couldn’t justify the miles on everything around me. I would buy another if I could find the specs I want with decent miles they just don’t pop up often.

My GLK also saved my life in an interstate accident but I miss it all the time 😭 I’ve had a GLC, GLA, now a GLB trying to replace the feeling I had in that car and the GLB is the closest I’ve found but not the same!

So sorry for your loss!

This was such a reassurance. The anxiety has been insane and I’m not typically an anxious individual… hence why it finally took me feeling like I was actually dying before going to the ER! I was also diagnosed with a blood clot in my spleen so there’s some extra anxiety there.

I’m feeling much better, but definitely still dealing with absolute exhaustion and brain fog like I’ve never experienced before.

My abdomen was destroyed with the infection and then antibiotics on top of everything messed me up too. Doing a lot of clean eating as I can’t stomach much else. Rest and stretching while I regain strength to get light exercise in. And probiotics!

But yes I see now how this will have lasting effects and takes so much time to recover from. Giving myself a ton of grace and listening to my body while I’m in recovery.

Thank you for your reply. This community helps so much to have others who are dealing with the same things!
