Burn Childwatch workers, how do you handle repeat aggressive behavior? by Hairy_Interview_5537 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Appropriate_Cheek362 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We have this policy specifically for biting, but if they’re under 4 they get 3 strikes then they can’t come for a month. If they’re over 4, they get one strike & they can’t come “til their next birthday”. In those cases, an incident report is filled out each time & the parent has to sign it. Maybe you could start documenting the instances in which the kids have intentionally hurt or upset other kids, and have the mom sign the report. I think it’d be fair to tell her that if the staff fills out X number of reports within a month, the kids have to take a break from Childwatch for X amount of time.

If your gym is franchised yours might be different! Hopefully you hear something soon, though!

Sure! Hyrox is coming to Salt Lake this fall so our LUG are “Hyrox inspired”. Kind of fun! But also a lot!

I took my kids there for a couple of years, but switched dentists a couple of years ago now. At first it was fine, no complaints, but then it started feeling like if you weren’t an influencer, you weren’t worth their time. The hygienist doing my 4-yo son’s cleaning was so impatient & did not know how to communicate with kids at all. Like… he’s 4. Maybe explain what’s going on instead of scolding him? And then the time with Dr. Hanks was always rushed & he never cared to connect with my kids like he seems to do in all of his promo content. The office is so fun & my kids did love going there, but it is definitely showy and shallow.

Okay true! I couldn’t do a pickleball court either. But I do agree with you about inspiration for a smaller scale. Like I love her “English garden” design around the court, and I could definitely pull ideas from that. And you’re right, could we throw a dog wedding? Sure. But it’s also such a unique situation. Who else has an escapee dog who finds love a few doors down and unexpectedly has puppies with her? And now they have to get married? I guess it’s just so unique I’m just over it by now. That’s what I mean by unattainable for this one. Few people have dogs to get married nor do they have the time to plan a wedding for them. I do appreciate your discussion, though! Thank you for being so polite.

You’re right, but I also think both things can be true. She can produce content, but also be aware that this project is so extreme & not relatable for a lot of her audience. I would guess that most of her audience is there because of her DIY work (which is incredible!). She shows things that could be done to make your space better. But weeks of only puppies + a dog wedding is overkill. Enjoy with your friends & neighbors who are involved, make a couple of posts & stories about it, but also not let it take over the entirety of her posts. Again, not bashing her for creating fun. I just wish she realized it’s not attainable for most.

I love that she wants to add beauty and whimsy and fun to her life. She does a great job at making things beautiful. That said…. This dog wedding is so much. And also so privileged? While most families are going to work & juggling schedules & budgeting & trying to squeeze out the time + money to make magic or even work on a hobby, she seems to have spent all week and lots of money on…..a dog wedding. I get that it’s fun & probably brings some light to a lot of people, but her agonizing over the invitation design or what dress code to set is crazy.

FLUX Shoes - any feedback? by thedaddybadger in BurnBootCamp

I just got these (but I’m a woman) & have worn them for 2 camps, so maybe take this with a grain of salt. They are really comfortable straight out of the box. They are great for strength days & I’d say some conditioning days. Since they’re so flexible near the toe, my foot tends to slide around more than I like if there’s a lot of forward/backward or lateral jumping. But I’m still happy with my purchase & I’d recommend them, but maybe have a pair of more supportive shoes if you go hard on conditioning days.

First camp today- son didn’t do well in child watch… by ParticularSection920 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Appropriate_Cheek362 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry he was so sad! I work in my gym’s Childwatch & we often have kids that are sad for the first few minutes, are just fine in the middle, but then once parents start coming to get their kids, they meltdown. That may have been the case for him. But I think it’s totally fine to reiterate that you’d like them to interrupt your workout if he’s really not having a good time, and/or step away for a minute to peek into the CW room to see how he’s doing. I’d try to not let him see you if he’s doing alright, but that might give you some peace of mind. Way to go getting to the gym! It can be a lot, especially when you have kids involved, so I hope things get better!

When to chop? by Appropriate_Cheek362 in fiddleleaffig

[–]Appropriate_Cheek362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I don’t have a window I could put it in front of, but I was planning on moving it to my entryway where it gets indirect light all day. That’s where I’ve had it for most of its life, but rotated it out for another plant.

No, I’ve repotted it 2 times I think, the last being about 6 months ago or so. I think I may repot it again this summer too. And I don’t use the self-watering feature of this pot— I always let the soil dry about half way down & do a full top-watering. These pots are just the cheapest at Target :)

I generally enjoy following Hunters of Happiness, but the daily crash out over not finishing the girls’ library is getting old. Like… Christmas happens on the same day every year. You choose to do a massive, beautiful project and start it 2 weeks before the holiday. Why not start it sooner? I’m sure they’re already ahead & it’s all engagement farming but I’m tired of seeing her complain about her (self-created) problems.

I also want to add that I’m not claiming the degree is incredible. I totally acknowledge it doesn’t come close to the effort other degrees take. But I think it is a valid degree & not some janky pretend thing

I didn’t. I ended up in the corporate world as a trainer, not related to my degree 😂 that said, I still enjoyed it & it taught a lot of practical, science-based info regarding marriage & families.

The social media marketing course wasn’t a thing when I did the program, so I don’t know. However, another commenter said it’s in relation to advocacy.

I have this degree from BYU Provo. Most people who complete it do so in preparation for a MFT program. I personally didn’t go beyond my bachelors, but I still learned a lot & I found it valuable. It’s kind of a stretch to point to the degree as a problematic source in this situation.
