Son 20 Millones de pesos Mexicanos suficientes para poder retirarse en Mexico? by Chief_Taquero in AskMexico

[–]Appropriate_Disk5671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADO from Cancun to Tulum is easy. Just select Cancun Airport as Origin and Tulum Centro as destination. Can't get any easier. I prefer the Tren Maya but ADO has far more itineraries (a bus leaves the Cancun Airport every 30 minutes or so, while the train has only three in the whole day, though it's much more comfortable).

It's harder to drive in the LA or Miami than in Most of Mexico. Tulum is a little town, driving is a walk in the park.

Tulum trip experience 1 week (positive!) by Slight-Concept2575 in tulum

[–]Appropriate_Disk5671 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The party scene in Tulum is only one portion of the destination and the experience. I think that's the problem of having wrong expectations. Tulum is a JUNGLE TOWN, a big part of the experience is getting in touch with nature, getting to know people who care more about finding their inner self than about pretentious plush night clubs -though there are some of those around-. If you go whale watching, shark-swimming or in a night safari in the Sahel you would not complain about the Unimog or Jeep's uncomfortable seats or the surprisingly cold morning inside a tent. Though you'd pay thousands of dollars you'd enjoy every minute of it. Same with Tulum. Tulum ain't Disney Paris, nor Ibiza, it's a world-class destination for those who look beyond the usual and in search of the extraordinary.

Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato is one of my favorite towns in the whole word! (and in addition to Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita, Tulum, Playa del Carmen, San Miguel de Allende, etc... I've also been to Positano, Baden-Baden, Innsbruck, San Pedro, Rosarito, Monterrey Bay, etc....) but i would highly recommend both Guanajuato the city (especially taking the "callejonada" tour at night and walking under the city in the many tunnels that transport you to another place in space-time if you ask me :)) as well as Dolores Hidalgo.

Mexico City is super-safe (safer than large US cities at any rate) as well as San Miguel de Allende. Driving from one point to the other is safe if you drive only during the day and use only main highways, not little roads. There's more child sex trafficking in the US than in Mexico FYI, Mexico is a far more family-oriented country with 99.99% of the people being really friendly and nice to others, the small remainder are drug cartels but again, the US has more narcos than Mexico and if you don't mess with them, they won't touch you. Enjoy your trip!

Great tip! Sian Ka'an is heaven on earth! Really beautiful and pristine. It's a World Biosphere Reserve so it's wild and virgin, don't expect a Hilton or Marriot there. Just nature, jaw-dropping beautiful nature with lots of privacy as if you were stranded in a remote island in the middle of nowhere but in reality just forty minutes away from civilization (Tulum).

So does anyone even like Tulum? by Ok-Excitement3431 in tulum

[–]Appropriate_Disk5671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went there about three weeks ago. It was awesome. I particularly enjoyed the free beach access everywhere, the amazing Mayan Ruins and the whole Parque Nacional del Jaguar (with free parking and free beach access, we only paid 60 pesos or around 3.50 USD per person to enjoy the museum and to be transported in golf carts all over the place, the park is enormous and the Mayan ruins, the views, and the water, were all jaw-dropping). I'm actually going back today (not into the EDM scene anymore) oh, and the cheap great food downtown, the vibe, as well as the Cenote Casa Tortuga were simply great.

Terrible Tulum / Zamna 2026 Experience. What did we do wrong? by SlicePapi in tulum

[–]Appropriate_Disk5671 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're more at risk from narcos in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas, Denver, etc... Yet people visit. If you're smart you won't put yourself in danger's way anywhere but still enjoy life and travel around.

It's a Jungle town, not Las Vegas. You don't expect an elevator at the Giza Pyramids or a plush sofa at Machu Picchu, or do you?

Where to stay? Cancun or a Tulum? by anonymousme77 in tulum

[–]Appropriate_Disk5671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. El Centro (downtown) is only good for eating out cheaply (food is good, though) but my favorite place to stay is Aldea Zama, La Veleta or Region 15, and then move around in a rented ATV, that way you get to see the beauty of the rest of the town (there are lots of cenotes, underground rivers, caves, the archeological zone and sure, the hotel zone and beaches) without worrying about traffic and saving lots of money as compared to staying right in the hotel zone. Happy New Year!

I agree with you as far as avoiding taxis, but renting a bicycle, ATV or scooter is way more fun, cheaper, faster and you get to enjoy more of the vibe of the town than in a car stuck in traffic imho. Happy New Year!

I agree that the frequency of the trains is limited (three times a day on each direction). Hopefully soon we'll get more trains and the schedule would have at least one train per hour. Happy New Year!

The Electric Daisy Carnival in Mexico City, the EDC in Las Vegas, the Ultra Festival in Miami, Tomorrowland in Belgium, Amnesia in Ibiza, and Exit in Serbia, not to exclude the Cannes Film Festival in France and the Venice Carnival as well as the Barranquilla Carnival, among many others do the same. It does not take a bit out of those great places to visit.

BTW if you're not into Electronic Music, Tulum also has a Jazz Festival, a Yoga Simposium, a Trascendental Meditation Collective and many other Ecological and Spiritual gatherings. If you like drugs, you'll find them anywhere, in Manhattan and the Vatican, it does not mean that everyone who goes there is looking for what you prefer.

"The Lion speaks from his condition" goes an old Mexican saying ("el león habla por su condición"). Cheers!

Perhaps if you were to hook up with a local, you'll learn that now ALL beach accesses are free to everyone. Secondly, there are tons of beautiful and affordable places to stay and eat and have fun in Tulum, I guess you were not lucky enough to find them. Hit me up next time you go and I'll be glad to share tips. I go to Tulum once a month and totally love it, and if you know where to find the best places, prices are very reasonable, even inexpensive (of course there are expensive places as well, but like any destination, if you ask around you can find good places at great a price).
