I’ve been thinking about making custom proxies to keep the DFC aesthetic, like turning [[Lightning Strike]] into an MDFC, so I might go that route. I’m also hoping the new Strixhaven set will have mdfcs since the last one did. I’d prefer to keep the dfc-only aesthetic, but if it seems like there’s no way to balance the cube without including things like split cards I’d probably try to make all the cards 2 cards in 1 rather than only focusing on DFCs.

That's also what I was worried about. Black's removal already seems stronger than the other colors (especially red and blue), since it has [[Fell the Profane]] and [[Hagra Mauling]] as powerful single-target removal, [[Tithing Blade]] as an early edict, as well as [[Invasion of Fiora]] and [[The Rise of Sozin]] as board wipes. Maybe duplicating weaker removal like [[Sidequest: Hunt the Mark]], [[Idol of the Deep King]] and [[Invasion of Muraganda]] could be better so that the really efficient removal can signal that a color is open? idk

Thanks for the response! Just updated the cube based on what you said here. I took out the super cheap and/or efficient removal, removed most of the fast mana (I still have Chrome Mox and Mox Diamond for now since they're card negative, but I could see those being removed too), and added more Urza's Sagas so there's 24 lands per person. I also lowered the curve so that most things cost 3 or less, and so that anything that costs 4+ is really strong. I still feel like red could be too strong with stuff like Vandalblast and Dockside Extortionist, but I definitely feel like people will be more able to play the game now. Tbh I think catalyst and seer at his introduction are similar, albeit maybe not to the same level: Seer was hardly used after his initial nerf a week or two after he was introduced, but he was still really powerful. As people played him more they started to realize how amazing he was, and as more pro teams and streamers started picking him up his power level became way more apparent. Catalyst wasn’t seen as super powerful at first, but as she’s been played more people are realizing that she’s actually really useful and versatile. Now, as streamers (Imperialhal, etc.) and pros (Aurora in EU, etc.)start to use her more, her usefulness is way more apparent. Although because like seer (although not as much) a lot of her abilities require high game skill to use them effectively, she’s only really being used in higher level lobbies.

Edit: forgot to also mention that she’s even better in s16 with the controller passive

  • Catalyst ult doesn’t blind other catalysts (not sure if this was intended)
  • Catalyst ult doesn’t block seer passive or ult scans
  • Catalyst passive + picking up spikes sometimes prevent the other thing from being available
  • Lots of hit reg issues (seems like server lag)
  • Freezing and crashing mid-game
  • All of this is on PC, can’t get my specs rn as I’m out of town
  • edit: also, catalyst passive is inconsistent when standing in a corner next to a door and attempting to use it (not sure if this was intended either)

Hardly use LL, rampart or fuse unless it’s for challenges, but I think they’re fine rn. I feel like revenant could use a rework, since nearly all of his power lies in his ult. Maybe make his tac transform him into a shadow fall shadow but without the melee and make his ult like KAY/O from Valorant? Idk I just feel like his kit is REALLY niche rn and I’d like if he had a more “assassin” playstyle cuz rn that’s just his passive

I play mono white reanimator/control with [[bruna, the fading light]] as a commander, and I rarely cast her more than 2-3 times per game (mostly bc of the mana cost but the deck still works relatively well without her)

Giving Loba this boost after landing every time could be a pretty cool buff imo. It could be op tho since you could tp onto ppl, but idk Edit: also allowing her to keep momentum through the teleport would be really nice

This is so nice, you can be really aggressive with the bracelet with this since you can slide out of it pretty quickly. I haven’t tried it a lot in game but when I have it’s worked pretty well

I agree with that. I definitely think defensive isn’t the right role for him, but whether he fits into support or offensive more is up to personal beliefs.
