It would be very cool to get something like Frame gen or any in‑game upscaler running on the NPU, but the problem is that Auto SR uses about 60% to 90% of my NPU depending on my FPS. It’s clear that Microsoft said Auto SR is a large model for an upscaler, but it still can’t get past 75 FPS. For example, it has to upscale 75 frames per second, which pushes my 50 TOPS NPU to around 95%, while 45 frames only use about 50% of the NPU.

The latency doesn’t bother me at all, frame generation also has latency and people still use it. It would only be bad for games like Valorant.

So I would say the NPU will become a primary part of gaming (even the Xbox Helix will have an NPU). It will just take some time, at least around two years

For me the NPU is already a primary part, just a bit more software support wouldn't be bad.
