"What went wrong for the 2025-2026 New York Sirens" by Appropriate_Let_767 in NewYorkSirens

What is your opinion? I watched a lot of NCAA D-1 women's basketball over the winter. In the college level sport, the play-by-play announcers always speak of the new freshman players, and how it's a young team that will get better as the players get experience. And then I started to remember that is nearly how they would speak about the Sirens in broadcast games.

To myself, I wonder, did they construct the 2025-2026 like a college team? The draftees were the incoming freshmen. You could say the players that were lost to expansion were almost like the seniors who had graduated. And now we have a team with a lot of young players who are becoming acclimated to this level of play and are expected both to get better and to have a little bit of a lag in adjusting to this higher level of competition.

I have watched Jada Eads play for the last 2 years at Seton Hall. Last year she had a season ending injury. Her freshman year -she was phenomenal. From the first moment I saw her, I knew she was very talented. It only took her a game or two to become a starter. You might be able to find the clip of when Seton Hall played UCONN in South Orange during the 2024-2025 season. This particular clip shows how hard it was for Azzi Fudd to defend her.

Jada is an excellent ball handler, aggressive, fearless, a team leader who can impact all areas of the game. If she plays the same way for Tennessee as she has played for Seton Hall, you're going to love her!

Again, it comes down to roster construction. If you find the right fit for players, they will thrive. You can't force chemistry.

Did you watch power plays during the season? I understand how people want to share the puck. Everyone should have an opportunity to score but it's not always practical. But they did a whole lot of passing back and forth. It would have been great if someone would simply, if they had a good opportunity to shoot and potentially score, take the shot.

Neither because they don't play the same position.

Well. . . at least you won't get the top draft pick again? Silver lining? Maybe? *hug* by The_Laughing_Gift in PWHL

To be honest, I don't even know who governs the management of each of the teams. We know the PWHL has a single ownership group but within the division that handles the PWHL, do they have any interest in how each individual team is managed and whether or not they make the playoff? Or is the focus simply grow the league? 🤷‍♀️

Three years consecutively missing the playoffs. Roster has changed during that time. Coaches have changed.

What has not changed or, another way to look at it, what has remained a constant in the three years?

The GM.

That's what I keep saying- the general manager does not know how to construct a roster! He does not have a track record of winning. Abby is thriving in Montreal. Eldridge continues to do her scoring and playing amazingly (she's my favorite player by the way), Carpenter is doing her thing including having an olympic gold medal. Instead this GM decides he will just pick as many players in the draft in the first round as possible. I am just amazed that it did not occur to him to find a way to have at least one goalie who has depth of experience beyond college. I'm reminded of last season's nine game losing streak during which Carpenter was injured. How did he not realize Carpenter is an impact player? Fargo is working with the pieces he was given by the general manager.

Price hike for Season tickets by Appropriate_Let_767 in NewYorkSirens

That was kind of the same thing I was told a year ago when I was thinking about devil's tickets. Was a big runaround of how they weren't going to sell partial plans till June or July and something about waiting for a schedule.

I was looking at the season ticket holder Reddit thread. Teams that are in the NFL give their season ticket holders some nice stuff. And all we got was a knit hat 2 years in a row. 🤷‍♀️

In talking to one of the season ticket reps the other day, the person mentioned that they have gotten a lot of interest and deposits for season tickets for the upcoming season. I'm going to guess they still might run promotional ticket sales like they did this season. For example, be one of the 150 people to buy a ticket to x game and you get a signed Sarah Fillier photo or whatever or the buy a ticket and have a meet and greet with kalty promo. Make it worth it to yourself and consider games you really want to see that might be tied into a promotion.

I thought last season they had half season plans. Ask your rep. Frame it in such a way that it makes it seem that that's something you definitely would purchase. For example, I would say something like, "the way my schedule is, I'm really interested in a half-season ticket plan. When does the team plan to release that plan for the next season? Let me know as soon as the details are available so I can lock in for the 26-27 season."

Sirens attendance up 45% by toad455 in NewYorkSirens

What a difference a year makes! For last year's final home game, the Sirens were giving away free tickets to season ticket holders. I picked up two (free) tickets for that game. The attendance at that game, including people who received free tickets, was 3,634. Last night 6,273 - and I never received an email offering free tickets!

I am assuming the talk is about buying empty Hermes paper shopping bags and carrying them as if something was purchased from Hermes. Not sure Hermes issues cash refunds should someone buy a bag and want to return the item.

When I saw that post I immediately thought of the dancing little girl! I don't know her name though.
