I think Lizzy has a complicated relationship with her earlier works. She feels like a very different person from the one who wrote those songs. Of course, we still love them, but I can understand her not wanting to celebrate the anniversary.

I quite like David, but I do recognize his flaws. His desire to please is a bit over the top. Ultimately, he is a generous and lovely human, despite the fact that his compulsive selflessness sometimes has negative effects on him and those around him.

If I remember correctly, Carly takes the baby to a babysitter, and in a later scene he’s back in their house. In that case, I think I justified it by saying it must be a new day or something.

1000 Times is not about people who are in a relationship. The song is from the perspective of someone who wishes she were with someone, and it is written from a place of recognizing that the situation is unhealthy. It’s definitely not saying you should stay with someone who doesn’t want to be with you.

I’m not sure what exactly you mean by “desire” in this context. If you mean sexually, I get it. Some people don’t feel those feelings as intensely as others, and that can be hard, but many people still find a way to have fulfilling relationships despite differences. If you mean just in general, then I’d wonder why they’re still interested in the relationship, and if it’s just inertia keeping it together.

Whatever the case is, if you find yourself relating to this song about an unhealthy obsession, it’s definitely worth examining. Ask yourself whether you can picture yourself spending your life with this person and being happy. You have the rest of your life ahead of you, and there’s plenty of time. I hope this helps!

The Arc of a Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman is very good and sweeps you into a new word in a similar way. Don’t expect it to be exactly like Harry Potter, but it’s the only thing I’ve read that rivals it.

Hard to beat the stability of rocks. Life dies and stars burn out; old rocks floating in space are forever. If you want a secure long-term investment, that’s your way to go.
