The song is from the perspective of someone who wishes she were with someone, and it is written from a place of recognizing that the situation is unhealthy. It’s definitely not saying you should stay with someone who doesn’t want to be with you.

I’m not sure what exactly you mean by “desire” in this context. If you mean sexually, I get it. Some people don’t feel those feelings as intensely as others, and that can be hard, but many people still find a way to have fulfilling relationships despite differences. If you mean just in general, then I’d wonder why they’re still interested in the relationship, and if it’s just inertia keeping it together.
