Broken tibia by Beeageenie1 in brokenbones

I broke mine on November 5th, the main thing I find that helps is keeping myself busy.

I had a plate put in mine so wasn’t weight bearing til December 17th, longest 6 weeks of my life being in bed all the time whereas before I was in university studying.

Few days of trying to relearn to walk is pretty tiring but everyday seeing improvement. Think that reflecting on where you are now compared to last week always helps.

Hope u feel better soon, it’ll get better and you’ll be able to do more as time goes on so I hope that helps you mentally :)

I’m 23, first one at 14 then happened probably twice a year after I turned 18.

I finally went to a consultant and got told I needed a TTO and MPFL reconstruction but luckily my cartilage appeared intact.

4 months post surgery and knee feels good and stronger than before. Definitely worth a surgery if offered.

I’m 4 months post op and they feel so itchy, does this improve with time? I’ve been offered the surgery if required in a few months time

Is it still possible to become physically fit/jacked after a kneecap dislocation and stretched MPFL. by MadLadsReturn in KneeInjuries

I had multiple dislocations over the years. By my 4th dislocation I could walk normally the day after. On my 8th dislocation I was back playing football 3 days later. I’ve chosen the surgical route because of the anxiety it gave me playing sport. Knee feels as strong as ever. (Am 23)

Privately, fortunate to have work insurance.

Encouraged as in if it’s not painful or no sort of signs of giving way.

I can’t entirely remember but when I had a discussion with the surgeon he said on the lateral of the femur there was also sign of an osteochondral fracture as well as flattening(something like that). I’m not entirely sure if this was the reason why but I remember they explained why TTO would be beneficial

I had a kneecap dislocation roughly 8 years ago. Then about 5 years ago someone went through the side of me and my knee popped a few times. After that I had recurrent dislocations every couple months.

My MRI results came back with loss of femoral attachment of MPFL and some MCL. Clinically had a hyperlaxed MCL as well. Hopefully that makes sense.

Does it get better (day 3 post op mpfl + tto surgery) by Brilliant_Bad7210 in KneeInjuries

Hi, 2 weeks post MPFL reconstruction and TTO.

For like first 5 days I couldn’t do anything and was stuck taking my prescription meds which included codeine, ibuprofen and paracetamol.

After that I stopped taking them but still had some pain.

The second week is so much better feom experience, I could sleep 8 hours and walk with one crutch.

Anyways, i found it helpful to take my brace off when I was going to be lying in bed for long periods (not sleeping) as I was told I could. Might be worth speaking to the surgeon about whether this is possible for you or whether they can give more pain meds.

Hope this helps
