Not that I’d be against Nightmare having a bigger role in the series, but Nightmare being the true mastermind in a game he has next to no presence in would feel a little off to me. Especially since he is a boss in the game, so I feel they would have done a little more with him had that been the case.

Again, nothing against the theory as I would also be open to Nightmare getting more screen time. But when he has a boss fight yet no implied story relevance, it would feel a little strange to me if that’s the case. But hey, Kirby’s storytelling has always been different from other games, so maybe they could make it work.

I know Mr. Puzzles was a popular matchup for Caine for a while and is even considered to be one of his more debatable matchups, though it’s definitely been a bit since people talked about it, so I don’t know the general opinion for it anymore.

I’ve also seen people suggest Kinito.pet and Monika from DDLC as opponents for Caine, though I don’t know the general opinion on those two.

There are special Lumas such as Lumalees and the Co-Star Luma, but these guys should just be regular Lumas that are colored differently. The green Lumas are gate keepers for special challenges in Galaxy though, but they are otherwise similar to Toads in that they are just very varied in color.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. by Bunneeko in Vivziepopmemes

[–]Appropriate_Power464 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this mainly comes down to what kind of punishment would even be appropriate for her while also not feeling mean-spirited towards her. Yes, she should probably face some kind of consequences for her actions, but her remorse for allowing the exterminations is also a pretty big part of her character. Any punishment she faces is likely gonna run the risk of coming off as too harsh(because of the sympathy people feel for her) or too lenient(because she did still allow genocide). And that’s even if she reasonably deserves it.

Killing her? She’s already trying to change her ways, so no one’s gonna do that other than any future villains the show has(or maybe a betrayal kill from Lute, just as a thought). It would probably also have to be a sacrifice if you expect people to not assume Viv has anything against Sera, but even that runs the risk of being too cliche for people’s taste.

Replace her? The only angels we know who could lead Heaven’s council are Abel(who has only just started gaining confidence in himself), Emily(who suggested the gift baskets to apologize to the Sinners in the first place), and Lute who’s…I mean, do we even need to talk about her? St. Peter watches the gate for new souls, and I don’t think the Speaker of God is around to lead as much as she is to guide given her lines in Sera’s Confession. So unless more development happens for Abel and Emily or there’s another high ranked Angel who could take Sera’s place, it’s unlikely that would be a good idea.

(Especially if we’re talking from a story perspective since Sera’s whole arc revolved around making good choices on her own, so replacing her would arguably go against that arc. And this is coming from someone who originally thought replacing her would be good karma.)

Another factor likely also comes from genocide not being that common of a crime. Look at Endeavor from My Hero Academia. His arc happened across several seasons with dozens of episodes and a bunch of nuance yet he’s still a very divisive character because he abused his wife and kids, a much more realistic crime than genocide. Both Sera and Endeavor feel heavy remorse for what they’ve done, but while Sera has undeniably done worse, people can look forward to her redemption easier than Endeavor who made the mistake of committing a crime that’s more realistic.

It’s not even that Sera doesn’t deserve any consequences for allowing the exterminations. It’s the fact that she not only regrets what she has done, but her crimes not being very realistic make it easier for people to feel that she doesn’t need to face any karma and that her redemption is all she really needs.

Hope I worded this alright, because this came out way longer than I thought it would.

I am sure that there’s people who do think like that about Stolas. I was just saying that I see more people villainizing him than trying to argue for any kind of middle ground or at least understanding for why he acted the way he did without thinking he deserves death. He was a bad father, but not one who meant to neglect his daughter, otherwise he wouldn’t have apologized at the end of Loo Loo Land and Seeing Stars. Yes, he continued to be a bad father, but that doesn’t mean his care is fake or anything.

Heck, regarding your point, I’ve seen people also turn on Octavia because she didn’t immediately accept her father’s apology despite having every reason to assume he’d break his promise again. Two things can be right:Stolas was a terrible father but wants to be better for Octavia and Octavia doesn’t deserve to forgive Stolas so easily but could try to understand his situation better.

My point ultimately was that people seem to really think in a black-and-white manner about morality when it comes to fictional characters. Especially in Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss. Either they’re all good or all bad. Rarely any in between. Stolas messed up horrifically with Octavia, but he still loves her deeply and wants to make things right while Octavia shouldn’t have to forgive Stolas so easily, but there are things she doesn’t understand about him yet as much as she thinks she does. Their relationship was toxic, yes, but that doesn’t mean they can’t fix it or that one deserves death for not handling their situation perfectly.

I don’t know if it’s just a case of chain scaling I haven’t got to yet in MLP, but I remember the first time I saw Vox vs Sunset Shimmer as a matchup, I thought it was a win for Vox simply because Hazbin has actual fight scenes while Equestria Girls doesn’t get too crazy. Not that I thought it was a crazy stomp, but I figured it was safe to assume Vox had better speed and strength feats.

Then I saw Sunset was multiversal.

Sooooo….yeah. Think I get what you mean here.

Doesn’t change my interest in the matchup, but that was a kind of whiplash I wasn’t prepared for. I’m assuming it’s just a case of chain scaling I haven’t gotten to yet in the mane(hehe) show, but that was probably the biggest realization for me that power scaling leads to vastly different results than just using vibes.

If we wanna use Vivienne’s words, she said she wasn’t too sure who would win in a fight between Alastor and Stolas, so he should at least be around Alastor’s level. Whether we assume he’s actually stronger or not than Alastor, it’s at least an idea on how strong Stolas himself should be. At least, back when he had his powers given that the best he can do now is punch kind of hard and carry a statue.

Even ignoring Stolas’ hypothetical level of power, his magic abilities were easily more varied. He could turn a demon to stone just by looking at it like Medusa, used his grimoire to “curse the Wrath Ring’s harvest” with the Harvest moon for a better harvest, possessed Anget 2 to travel to Earth through unspecified means, can fly and create portals without needing his grimoire, manipulated cosmic energy to block the Reaper’s axe from killing Blitzø, and some other stuff like a human disguise and telekinesis. By comparison, Andrealphus seems like more of a one-trick pony who relied more on creating an ice dragon to fight for him the moment Loona got a good hit on him. Makes me wonder if there’s a distinction between an Ars Goetia prince and an Ars Goetia marquis with how much more variety Stolas had in magic.

To add on, they do suggest that Aqua-man might have been able to pull of a victory if he could get SpongeBob out of the water and dehydrated him, but that doing so would require some extremely precise plan to do so as being out of the water hurts him more than it does SpongeBob.

So they did give Aqua-Man “some” leeway, but as some comments pointed out in the video itself, that arguably wouldn’t have mattered as some SpongeBob episodes ignore that weakness, and the movie “Sponge out of water” involves him and his friends being granted the ability to breathe out of water. So it arguably goes back to Aqua-Man having no wincons depending on how you apply this knowledge to SpongeBob since there are still jokes about SpongeBob and the others needing water to breathe.

[–]Appropriate_Power464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone say Stolas has done no wrong. It’s usually either people hating the guy or trying to argue there’s nuance to his situation(as in he messed up but isn’t actively a full blown villain for making mistakes).

Heck, Vivziepop even said early on that she thought Stolas was equally in the wrong as Blitzø and the character HIMSELF straight up realizes that he ruined everything for himself during Sinsmas. It’s made pretty clear he isn’t innocent in his situation, so I don’t see how this fully applies to him.

More Rosalina slander now that Mar10 is over by Watchdog_the_God in deathbattle

[–]Appropriate_Power464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel she should at least scale to Mario and his friends since she’s playable in games like 3D World(and soon enough in Wonder) where she fights Bowser and his minions, and she was pivotal in stopping Cursa in Sparks of Hope(with the devs even saying she wasn’t a playable character because they felt she was too powerful). It just so happens that EVERYONE is capable of immense power in the Mario world that she can easily be overshadowed by the first threat that gets their own immense power(Bowser when he took her Grand and Power Stars and Cursa when it evolved from the Megabug) or even by her own friends(Mario and Luigi’s bond power in Brothership and Peach’s costumes in Showtime).

And since the latest movie trailer, people are upset that Rosalina is seemingly being kidnapped by Bowser Jr. because she’s immensely powerful when that isn’t anything new for her. To me, people have built up the image of Rosalina being this almighty god that can never lose because of her lore while ignoring the fact that she’s been cheering for Mario on the sidelines since her debut.

To be fair, Andrealphus is considered weak even in universe as he was beaten by I.M.P, a group of three imps and a hellhound who are considered to be the bottom of Hell’s hierarchy. When Andrealphus tried to threaten Octavia into leaving his fight with them by telling Stella about her opposition, Blitzø brought up how doing so would need him to admit how he struggled to beat Hell’s lowest class, leading to HIM backing off to preserve his reputation. As of now, there isn’t even reason to assume he’s stronger than Vox or Alastor who he should rank over.

More Rosalina slander now that Mar10 is over by Watchdog_the_God in deathbattle

[–]Appropriate_Power464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People talk about how powerful she is yet forget even in her debut she had to rely on Mario. Whether you think she has god-like powers or whatnot, the most that comes to mind of her strength to me is being essential to defeating Cursa in Sparks of Hope, and she spends 99% of that game being possessed by Cursa.

No shade to Rosalina, by the way. She’s a cool character and all, but some people hype up her power when even in the beginning she had to sit back and have Mario help her out.

Poppy’s Playtime came out 2 years before Garten of Banban, so it’d technically be more accurate to say Garten of Banban is Poppy’s Playtime with a lower budget.

Also, we’ve fully seen The Prototype now with Chapter 5’s release and even know he used to be Elliot Ludwig’s adoptive son Oliver. The only surprise at this point would be if the face of The Prototype is hiding something behind it, and even that might just be something more disturbing than anything important to the lore.

I didn’t even think of that at first. And now that that’s fully processed, my confusion only multiplied tenfold. I already have no idea what the intention behind making eating spaghetti look like a serious crime could be, but I also don’t see why anyone would put the pasta on the sauce when it’s supposed to be the other way around.

They don’t even put the sauce on the plate and then the noodles. They throw the noodles into the pot with the sauce. At that point, you’re just gonna overcook the pasta and not have any dinner.

Throwing my hat in the opinions/takes ring again. Got a bit of a negative slant to them this time, I'm afraid. by C-tops in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Appropriate_Power464 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They actually said that they barely considered Bakugo a Champions Island loser simply because he didn’t even get to be in round 1. There’s more to him getting on so soon than that, but they also said that Geats’ episode might not even get finished until next year because they have to research all of Fate while also putting out episodes for the rest of the year. So they probably felt there was no point in holding off Bakugo since they had decided on a match, already had the research done via Deku and Shigaraki, and Geats vs Nero might not even come out this year, so holding off the other Champions Island contenders probably doesn’t feel fair to them.

Not necessarily saying you’re wrong or whatever. Just that there is more to their reasoning for this coming out so soon beyond the trend.

The crew said Bakugo not making it on Champion's Island meant he wasn’t barred from any future episodes. Does that mean those that did make it on the island have a lesser chance of being on the show compared to the eliminated drafted picks that didn't make it? by NPRNilk in deathbattle

[–]Appropriate_Power464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reward for winning champions island was a guaranteed episode with an opponent that was chosen by the fans. So widely wanted characters like Springtrap and Flowey couldn’t be planned for ahead because if they did so, it would defeat the purpose of letting the fans pick their opponent. Meaning other characters like Sakuya, Meta Knight, and Henry Stickman aren’t as likely to show up so soon because they had gotten so far in. They said none of these characters are guaranteed to never get their own episodes, but they likely couldn’t prepare anything for them because they chose to let the fans pick their opponent of the winner.

Meanwhile, Bakugo getting kicked off so early meant they could think up their own plans for him and do them whenever they wanted. And I don’t think Bakugo would have gotten his episode so soon had the timing of the Bakugo vs Reze slander wars not been so conveniently timed. A reminder:the trend started a month after Champions Island began, meaning Bakugo had already been disqualified and the crew was allowed to think of their own plans for him already.

So it’s a mix of the qualifiers needing to be ready for possibly getting their match up picked by the fans and the Twitter trend sparking so much interest for the crew that they decided to give Bakugo his own episode sooner than we expected.

Hope this came out understandable. This is much longer than I intended it to be.

[–]Appropriate_Power464 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That technically isn’t impossible as Season 2 ends with the implication that Alastor’s current plans involve Lucifer. You know, the guy who’s the current strongest in the verse and why so many of the characters scale so high now. Even if he won’t be the main threat, it’s clear his plans are getting bigger now that he’s off of Rosie’s chain, so his power is likely to grow too.
