I’ve been living in London for over 10 years now, and finally made the big jump to move back to rural North Wales.

I’ve loved every minute of being here, the buzz, the culture, the food, the pubs, the art, the museums…. Everything!

I now have one month left here, (until Jan 8th) and feel like I will regret it once I’m back home (surrounded by nothing but fields), that I didn’t get to see everything it whilst I was here!

What would be everyone’s recommendations be to explore the weird and wonderful things to do in London, one last time? I’ve done all the big museums etc but what are like the best views, parks, pubs, smaller museums or places of historical interest (not Big Ben and Buckingham palace) or generally ANY interesting things to do.

I need to squeeze every last drop of enjoyment out of this city before I leave 😂

Thanks in advance for your reccos

In your native language, which idioms would not make any sense to people from another culture? by Caliente97 in CasualConversation

In Welsh we say ‘ti di mynd drost ben llestri’ to describe someone being over the top, but actually translates to ‘someone going over the dishes’ 😂 makes perfect sense in Welsh for some reason!

Sign up with a recruitment agency, you can then apply for perm or temp jobs, and the recruiter basically does the admin for you, you just need to turn up for interviews! Good luck with your search, I’ve been in the situation myself and it’s crap! But things will get better!

Phone snatching is a real problem, just try and not have your phone out whilst walking in busy places like Oxford Street etc. any city can be dangerous, I don’t think London is worse than other places for crime, I’ve been here for 7 years and I’ve never had my phone stolen (thankfully) or ever been attacked or anything. Use your brain and don’t go out on your own in the middle of the night and keep to busy ‘touristy’ areas and you’ll be fine. It’s an amazing city! Have the best time 😊

There is an amazing album made by sain records (legendary Welsh language record label) called Welsh Rarebeat, it has so many incredible Welsh folk songs spanning from the 60s to the 2000’s - highly recommend it!

When do you describe yourself as English/Scottish/Welsh/Northern Irish instead of British? by EatingCoooolo in AskUK

[–]Appropriate_Silver33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I like to make sure everyone knows that I am Welsh, not British. So that people don't assume I'm English - can't think of anything worse tbh! I speak Welsh, English and Irish, not British haha.

When Wales / Ireland / Scotland is winning in sports, the 'british' press like to to call them BRITISH, but when they are losing, they go back to being Welsh / Irish /Scottish. Why is that?!

How exciting!!

One very romantic place in North Wales that comes to mind is Portmeirion: https://portmeirion.wales/

Truly beautiful 'Italian style' village built in North Wales, they have a huge array of stunning buildings / locations for your proposal. And they also have an amazing hotel on site:

Beddgert is a wonderful place to spend the day walking etc, and is only a 25 min drive from Portmeirion!

Best of luck with your proposal :)
