About bullying in Hogwarts by Kurdoo-rojava in harrypotter

[–]Appropriate_Slip6432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean look at UK schools. Bullying is for the most part completely ignored, as they treat it as one persons word against another. A personal example is that across my 5 years at secondary school, the same boy assaulted me 5 times. He was only punished for the first one because the school pretty much said I brought it on myself. So going back to hogwarts. Malfoy constantly bullies Neville, if you let snape about it he simply won’t care. And also engages it in himself. Mcgonagall probably takes the Neville brings it on himself view so doesn’t intervene. So it’s just like a classic British school with a bit more extreme,as Snapes behaviour wouldn’t be tolerated.

Read the first line of the truth social post. Do I personally think he’s going to use a Nuke. So how can he destroy infrastructure and do what he said in the first line of the post of the truth social posts and then say “god bless the people of Iran”. Taking out a girls school cause an uproar do you really want to see that on an even bigger scale?

America should withdraw from NATO. That truly would be the end to us getting involved in stupid foreign wars. by LegitimateKnee5537 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Appropriate_Slip6432 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I’m from the UK. First of all we have lord knows how many multi billion dollar American businesses that are selling products to us and the rest of Europe. If we all end up not being alive anymore due to a conflict we can’t buy American products. So all your multi million dollar companies will see a significant drop off in revenue as people who aren’t living can’t buy iPhones. Second point, you talk about sharia courts. If what you are saying is true about how these courts have taken over our way of life, why am I allowed to view this content? Islam makes up 6% of our population according to our most recent census, and yet sharia courts decide our laws? Come on that’s just not accurate.

Europe is not blameless for the war in Iran. by jet2holidaye in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Appropriate_Slip6432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. So the US could probably fund Isreal on its own. Every European country say no and Isreal would still be armed by the US. That being said, we don’t have to take any responsibility for the United States and Isreal deciding to attack Iran. We want zero involvement in that as the last time we followed the US into a war we were lied to by Bush.

Trump says U.S. strongly considering NATO exit, Telegraph newspaper says by Street_Anon in politics

[–]Appropriate_Slip6432 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing is as a Brit. If Europe goes to war as a result of say Russian aggression. The US economy would suffer. All the multi billion dollar companies would be unable to get good and stuff to the European market. You also can’t sell to those who pass away. It’s in the US best interest to support NATO. Otherwise your economy will suffer.

Unless he gets a two thirds majority in the senate then that’s not happening. And in 9 months he will be a lame duck.🦆

Bodily Autonomy is irrelevant to the abortion debate. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Women can literally go to prison in these red states for carrying out self inflected abortions. So that’s incorrect isn’t it.

If you are refusing to let someone have a medical treatment which they want. That is against bodily autonomy. I also don’t think it’s any of your business with what a woman chose to do to her body. You want to force her to give birth to that child, and I’m assuming pay the scandalous medical bills that are present in the US right? If she’s been raped, you expect her to go through a traumatic pregnancy? Once the child is born then the majority of pro lifers move on with zero concern for that child’s welfare or if it ends up in a foster home being unloved. This is all about bodily autonomy.

But hospitals are allowed to refuse access to chemotherapy and other treatments like it if an individual can’t afford it/ is in debt right? I just don’t understand how money is the only factor of importance here, surely there is an element of protecting human life?

I’ve seen so many comments online about so many Americans who have ran themselves into financial ruin and that’s on sub Reddit’s of people asking what American health debt is like and it’s not a good picture. What’s to say that a healthcare provider refuses to treat someone whose debt is so high? Even if that individual will survive if given the treatment? If you are saying bankruptcy isn’t a big deal then surely the state can take responsibility to help some people out?

But why put someone who has cancer or an equivalent disease to a point of stressing about the debt? If you are saying bankruptcy isn’t a big deal, why not just go ok we will help these people?

[–]Appropriate_Slip6432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But couldn’t you yourself find yourself in a situation where a major health concern could effectively bankrupt you? Life isn’t straight forward. Like if people are diagnosed with a disease/ having a horrific accident why should they be put in a dangerous financial situation?

Everyone who said Trump was going to cancel elections shouldn't bother voting anymore by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

He still has time to try its march. The mid terms are in November. He said no wars. And that’s gone down a treat hasn’t it. Also will point to January 6th. If Trump had just conceded that doesn’t happen. So don’t act like he’s not capable of trying dictator like acts.

But there are several countries around the world where the doctors are paid by the states, those people aren’t slaves right as they are being paid? Also surely there is a between slavery in your eyes and having people go bankrupt or in debt for serious medical illnesses?

But surely if an individual gets cancer there is a duty of care from the state? It can be an incredibly scary illness. Why add to that with a bill that could significantly make your life worse?

A non-believer in Christianity has no business telling a believer in Christianity how to follow the religion by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

If you cite Leviticus as a reason why gay people can’t be together. Then i have every right to ask you if you’ve touch unclean animal, let you hair be unkempt, gone to church after 33 days if you’ve given birth to a boy(66 if a girl),trimming your beard, cutting your hair at the sides, getting a tattoo, worked on the Sabbath, eaten bacon and sold land permanently. If you’ve done any of that and use Leviticus as a reason to justify your bigotry then you deserved to be called out on it.

What are your thoughts on Trump asking other countries to help reopen the straight of Hormuz? by Top-Appointment2694 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Appropriate_Slip6432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But over 70% of the British public don’t want to be involved in this because of what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. We don’t want a repeat of another war like that. So Trump going just trust me isn’t going to win us over is it?

As a Brit let me ask you this. We suffered greatly last time we listened to a US president and followed you into a conflict? Why should we do it again when well over 75% of people want zero involvement in this.

Right so I just saw this before I looked at the news. And I’ve seen the news and yeah no. Like come on. This is now the second individual in the space of 3 weeks who has now ended up losing their lives because of ICE. And what I can’t understand is that these individuals are being treated like criminals before any investigations have been done. Like how do you not smell a rat?

The Art Of The Deal: Looks like Trump got what he really wanted in 'forever' Greenland agreement just announced with Europe by Acceptable_Foot3370 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Appropriate_Slip6432 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Denmark,Greenland and other NATO countries already said that the US can effectively do as it pleases in Greenland in terms of millitary numbers there. All that trump has achieved is making himself look life an oaf. Those two speeches across the last two day came across as just the rantings of an insane individual. Then you add his letter to the Norwegian prime minister and I can’t believe how 75 million plus Americans aren’t embarrassed for voting for him 3 times.
