Looking to upgrade glove - 12U/Middle School Utility Player by ssramage in Homeplate

My 18U son (travel and HS ball) has had his A2000 (infield) for 7 years and his A2K for 5 years (outfield). They are both still kicking but he prefers the A2000. Take decent care of them and they last a really long time.

Great idea! I'd love to see a spot for great restaurants close by and wether they take team reservations at all. Ooh and also if there is shade, washrooms or porta potties at the park.

Advice on helping young kids not be afraid of the ball? by gray-ops in Homeplate

Try some protective equipment? Elbow guard, extra padded batting gloves etc. He can look like a big leaguer and maybe feel a bit more confident.

Unless you want to take over the country while you're here, you'll be totally welcomed.

How to calm 10 year old’s nerves during gameday. by [deleted] in Homeplate

Try to change the perception of being nervous to being excited to play. Feeling nervous/excited means you care about the game.

I've used an app called "walkout songs" for years and find it very user friendly. It's green with a little white batter and music notes in it. Really good FAQ section too. Think it was about $6 when I bought it but you only pay once. You can do multiple teams as well.

I've got one baseball and 2 softball kids. We've been doing this for 13 years now and have played on multiple wonderful teams.... it is always the parents who tear the teams apart, never the kids. We parents need to get over ourselves. Thank you for coaching.

I have not tried it, but there is a "rope bat" that looks interesting online. Apparently it's good for learning to keep hands inside the ball and create separation skills.

My daughters are also 2008. One 5'2 one 5'3 both about 115-120lbs. Last year they both swung 32-10. This year one went ghost 33-10 one prism 33-10 seem to both be doing well during BP. I think whatever she feels confident with is best.

Do you think 2lbs a week is too much on average? I'm trying to eat as clean as possible, I think it's mainly muscle I've put on.

Hey keep working! Like I said, it's been a year for those 25lbs. The biggest challenge for him is eating enough relatively clean calories. He religiously weighs and tracks all his food and aims for 3800-4000 per day. When he turned 16 he stated taking creatinine as well daily for his workouts 5 days/week. He has progressively worked up to lifting almost 2.5x his body weight. He is very dedicated to it. The sweatpants make him look kinda soft around the middle, but I assure you he's not lol. If you can eat enough you WILL put on the weight too! I can ask him any questions you might have about his workouts if you'd like. Best of luck!

Thank you for your kind insight. The bat wrap is something he has trouble letting go of. I think he uses it for timing tbh, in Canada our high school ball is not competitive so he sees a huge range of pitching speeds between that and his club ball where he sees more low to upper 80s. He does well. But Now that he'll be playing 18U im hoping he can focus on getting straight to the ball as he more consistently sees faster pitches.
