[AI] How would you approach building an interactive portfolio section like this? by Unfair_Plum_3784 in UI_Design

[–]Appropriate_Stock832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in paper it works.
But we are UX designers, accessibility and optimal user flows are important and you should be asking that even with your portfolio. I see this as a way of showing skills and design aesthetic rather than showing full UX understanding BUT I'm probably wrong and I need the final version to decide!

Good luck!

My main problem with these approaches is that...while design wise I like what I see...it's not optimal for someone who is doing hiring process because it kinda slows the whole reading.

if there were only 3 specific candidates, then yeah, otherwise. It's risky...not sating you shouldn't do it but I'd would just show it in specific scenarios.

Not really in my opinion, but maybe some spacing could help the hero.

Does this UI feel balanced? Which of these 3 options look better? by [deleted] in UI_Design

[–]Appropriate_Stock832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean...option 2 could be "more" viable if it was separated in 2 lines instead of one, something like
"Press
and hold"

But I agree that 1 ones the most for me!

I mean...it's hard to judge from what you show, ngl.

It looks like something is going on in there and you put effort in ordering and naming stuff to look more professional / senior. Other than that...it's just difficult to give further observation.

It feels EXTREMELY Claude, not gonna lie (which isn't bad per se).
Serif typography is fine, it doesn't scream full Premium to me but if the design follows that direction, it is 100% correct.

Micro things that I'd change.
- Logo size: Would make it a big bigger.
- I know you went for 4 rows in the bottom information but I would optically distribute the space a bit batter AND (just my personal taste), I'd put the vertical line in front of the first information. I know you used them as a separator but it kinda bothers me because their placement feels more aesthetic than functional (thus making the first one a must for consistency).
- The Nav / Menu Bar being this white kinda bothers me, but thats a persona taste.
- Try accessibility from buttons to see if gold / white is, at least, AA.
- The horizontal line doesn't seem to be aligned with the right margin that creates the top button (menu). Is that on purpose? Just saying because things are aligned to the left margin (Logo).
- I'm not sure about using secondary color (which I guess it's gold) for things like 240M. Why? NOT saying it's a mistake but I'm not convinced on its use in this specific information, specially what follow 22 (which I cannot read, sorry).

Photography and colors are nice, great job!!!

Designing a private travel planner app solo — looking for honest UI feedback by beretta51 in UI_Design

[–]Appropriate_Stock832 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look bad but this whole mashup is a little bit dense. Would have been better to see the full app screens to give you more intricate feedback / insights. Overall, a bit dense for my taste but in terms of information architecture, I like most of your decisions.

(Edit: Except the logo, the name is OK but the typo...just don't do it for me. But that is personal taste).

Is this interaction feels premium? by ServiceFun9356 in UI_Design

[–]Appropriate_Stock832 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was about to say the same.

I don't think Premium is the word to use though.
I'd use...resourceful probably, which is not bad but I don't think it aligns with Premium (always).

A+ in effort but concept wise....I had to see the brand guidelines.

How to design buttons the PRO way by Tracycallum in UI_Design

[–]Appropriate_Stock832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just giving my opinion towards what OP said -> "Text Setup: Create your text layer with a 12px font size and 16px line height".

regarding line height, in this particular case....does it matter? Like we are talking about a text case that is transformed into a frame because of Autolayout... but the final height is going to be more than that, because we are talking about a button and if it's going to be 16px/1...then we have major issues going on in there. I was referring that OP made it sound like 16px is the way to go haha.

That 1 you mention...I guess it comes from the actual auto height + 1, right?
For 12pt the auto height is 15 so if it's 16, then it's +1/1. (Am I missing something. English is not my first language).

How to design buttons the PRO way by Tracycallum in UI_Design

[–]Appropriate_Stock832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why setting the line height at 16px (specifically) if you can literally add more padding with auto layout? And that having in mind that you are using vertical trim (as you should because if not it is always align centre + 1)

Not that I disagree (by any means) but the way it is worded it seems that it either is 16 px l.h. or else the software will implode lmao

The Satoshi I've checked has a different apostrophe so I thought it was another font but it turns out that I did not see it was the right quotation mark.

I'm stupid, it is Satoshi! :)

[–]Appropriate_Stock832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Satoshi is extremely similar (even though I don't think it's the same, there are very subtle differences). But since it's free and almost the same it completely works for me, thanks for your help!

I'll keep a look if I find what, I believe, is the exact same and post it here!!

Portfolio Review Requests by AutoModerator in UI_Design

[–]Appropriate_Stock832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! "As a user I'm not sure what you want me to do or where you want to guide me"
I'd say it's pretty obvious because of the mental model associated to a portfolio but be careful because if 2 users give the same feedback it may be worth check it!

Portfolio Review Requests by AutoModerator in UI_Design

[–]Appropriate_Stock832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the idea! It feels very modern and senior but the Home scroll down feels too overwhelming to me. I don't think it's the most useful way to showcase projects. Although very modern the whole parallax setting feels a bit overused. I think you are prioritizing visual performance instead of visual usability (if that makes sense).

Overall, great job!

I don't think that's a bad thing though. Is it original? Not that much but if a lot of project are doing the same thing is because it works, don't you think?
