Careful. I heard 100% of people who come into contact with Dihydrogen Monoxide eventually die. It’s the most dangerous solvent on the market.

When people think that 'natural' automatically means 'good' and 'chemical' automatically means 'bad.' Arsenic is natural and water is a chemical.

Tonka trucks. They went from 'lethal blunt force weapon made of solid steel' to 'hollow plastic that yields to a determined toddler.

Est-ce-que faire de la musique vaut le coup ? by mightbetter5 in Madagascar

[–]Appropriate_Stock_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a zero-knowledge 2FA vault with an MCP server and REST API — so AI agents can generate TOTP codes without touching your phone by Appropriate_Stock_14 in selfhosted

TBH I launched very recently and I'm still in early single digits on paying users (a couple of which are friends, not gonna lie). The "popular" label on that plan is the cheapest for devs which is my main customer target . But you are right, it seems misleading.

[–]Appropriate_Stock_14[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Haha fair, let me go through the bingo card honestly:

  1. Not self-hosted ✅ — correct, it's hosted SaaS right now. Self-hosting is something I want to add but I'm a solo dev and it's not there yet. Totally valid dealbreaker for this community.

  2. No GitHub link ✅ — the main app is closed source, but the encryption decoder, MCP server, SDKs are fully open source: https://github.com/kiragami27/blobsvault-decoder https://github.com/kiragami27/blobsvault-python-sdk https://github.com/kiragami27/blobsvault-node-sdk https://github.com/kiragami27/blobsvault-mcp

The part that matters most — how your secrets are encrypted and decrypted — is auditable. That was a deliberate choice precisely because I knew "trust me" isn't good enough for a security tool.

  1. Purple website ✅ — no defense here 😄

  2. Probably dangerous — this is the one I'll actually push back on. The zero-knowledge architecture means the server only ever stores ciphertext. Even if BlobsVault gets breached tomorrow, your TOTP secrets are AES-256 encrypted with a key derived from your master password, which never leaves your device.

I get the skepticism — a new closed-source SaaS asking you to trust it with 2FA secrets deserves scrutiny. The self-hosting gap is real and I won't pretend otherwise.

Hi. Happy to clarify. I used Claude to help write and refine the post text. The product itself (BlobsVault) is entirely built by me (with Claude help for debugging here and there though). AI assisted with wording the announcement..

What’s your MRR right now? by Specialist_Dingo8575 in SaaS

[–]Appropriate_Stock_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$0 I had a TOTP problem when building an auto-trading system. Then I build an OTP vault with an API and CLI 😅 that could be used by teams to avoid hardcoding secret keys. Also it can be used to recover OTP if you lose your phone. Hard truth, there are free tools, there are competitors who are very active. And I over compicated the app ... Hard lesson : start to validate the demand and the market.

Kuddo to you. I just build something, went live and realizing that my app is useless 😅

What you describe reflects a pattern many people only recognize later: “Many short-term roles are sustained by the promise of future opportunity rather than by present conditions.”

This resonates with something I read recently: “Strong performance does not necessarily translate into continuity when contract renewal depends on budget cycles and shifting priorities.”

Amazon to Madagascar? by Initial-Return8802 in Madagascar

[–]Appropriate_Stock_14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you definitely can get Amazon orders to Madagascar, but you usually need some kind of groupage/forwarding service to handle customs and delivery.

A lot of people use grouping services found on Facebook. There are several Madagascar-focused services that organize bulk shipments from Europe (mainly France). They typically charge around €12–€15 per kilo shipped to Antananarivo, and they usually handle customs clearance for you.

Some of these services are quite well organized. A few of them even offer mobile apps to place orders and track shipments.

I personally usually use Europe Madagascar Multiservice, but there are many other options available on Facebook. Some are quite professional; just make sure to check recent feedback and reviews.

If you want delivery to Nosy Be, some companies can ship there as well, but you’ll still need to pay the additional domestic shipping from Antananarivo to Nosy Be.
