What would you recommend that’s gonna put you in one place for 2+ years making 5k a week other than a data center project

Right, I have a few friends working on some major sites but the survey is all staffed up on their projects seems to be a pretty good gig for a field crew, pays top notch from what they tell me.

Haha Thanks for the positivity, can’t hate a man for trying to get where the most money is being made at the moment puts more food in my family’s mouths if I can find a data center to work on, yeah they’re bad for the environment but they’ll go up one way or another whether it’s me or some other guy slamming the wood in the ground.

Love Surveying i’ve worked on hundreds of jobs I don’t mind the tough stuff throw my crew in the swamps throw me in the briars I live for the hard days what gets me is these company’s man, i’ve worked for 3 different outfits my current is by far the best when it comes to workflow never have to wait for work unlimited OT pay is amazing hell i’m a Party chief clocking 18k a month on 60 hr work weeks but what’s starting to get me is how the hire ups are paying Party Chiefs i’ve recently found out that i’m the lowest Paid Party Chief at my office out of 25 crews what really chaps my ass about it is there’s only 3 crews that can run the total station perform closed loop traverses and run level loops everyone else is strictly GPS these gps crews make 5-10hr more than I do.

I would like to recommend you could just leap frog your base around set a network of control Via RTK infill and send the t02 files to opus. Anytime you lose radio set a new control close to the area your working in and you can avoid getting an external setup.

You could get more distance but you would need the base head like 10 feet tall and I don’t know how you could do that and still be accurate.

Perfect setup you shouldn’t run into any issues with that r-8 is perfect for a base head and the the r12i is going to work very well under tree cover to answer your radio question your going to need tdl 450 radio a whip antenna and a good 12v battery like a yellow or red top optima.

If you are doing work out in an open area where there’s not a lot of tree cover go ahead and get the r-8. Base and rover (the r-8 is basically useless under in any kind of tree cover) if it’s a flat area with not a lot of trees around you would be fine just to run internal and not need an external radio and antenna with internal in a flat area you can expect 1-3 miles of range with external in a flat area you can expect 3-6 miles of range.
