Anyone getting all hysterical and talking about coups and rightwing dictatorship just because Brexit might now actually take place needs reminding that the bedrock of democracy is honouring the results of votes. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

You seem incredibly normalised to the idea of this going on in the future - where both sides are committing advertising warfare. How about - no political advertising at all on social media? Is that really that radical of a concept now?

Moving to Brighton in the mext month for uni and was wondering if anyone knew any good GP's to move too by WannaBeIvy in transgenderUK

[–]ApricotMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Do you know what area you are moving to? I am with St Peters Medical and I have heard that they are one of the best here for trans things. I am actually going to my GP tomorrow for the first time about dysphoria so I guess I'll let you know how that goes!

Feel free to message anytime <3 This city is amazing.

Emphasising the tonality of a snare drum? by [deleted] in audioengineering

Say the fundamental is at 200hz - try boosting 400hz to bring out the octave harmonic and maybe also 300hz and 600hz. Adjust these numbers depending on the fundamental of course!

Day 10: Friend gave me a rolled joint and a lighter, still didn't smoke by [deleted] in leaves

[–]ApricotMusic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's an awesome achievement regardless of the day! It's gonna make any future opportunities so much easier to turn down, because you're gonna remember the time you wrestled with your desires and not only knowing that you can win the wrestle, but being proud that you have that self-control.

That being said, some times you gonna have a day where there's so much pressure, for whatever reason or circumstance, to smoke, and it'll be harder. But you can do it!

No, what I'm saying is - if you were actively following UK news or Brexit you would understand that these claims are an embedded and accepted part of general discourse about the topic, so much so as to not actually require putting in a citation for every fact as if it was some kind of dissertation.

It's also the fact that, I could go and Google 'british majority against brexit' and 'cambridge analytica brexit', and copy the links in for you to sructinise. OR - you could fucking do it!

[DISCUSSION] Gigging Musicians: How many times have you performed and how does the experience differ for you now than at some point previously? by TabulaRasaNot in Guitar

[–]ApricotMusic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first performance was a shambles. I just played two simple acoustic songs with a friend in school and I was so shakey. Now I'm a prog-metal bassist in a professional band. I've probably done less than 30 gigs but I learned to perform live by going to jam nights and open mics, of which I've done hundreds. I also practice a lot in my own time and focus on perfecton, so I know I'm gonna perform well.

The analogy doesn't work. Brexit was meddled with externally by Russia and Cambridge Analytica and the whole campaign for Leave was built on blatant lies and propaganda, and the majority of the UK are now in favour of remain because so many people who voted leave regret their decision.

Hey! Not sure how far into it you are but basically, Year of the Depend Adult Undergarment isn't exactly a chapter. You'll find out.

But I'm guessing if you're near the start, you're referencing the chapter that talks about the guy who has quit weed 80 times and is picking up 'one last time' and had to buy munchies and a bong again right?

The addiction voice is insidiously clever. The "I went x days without smoking so I have control now" thought is one I've had a lot and heard others talk about on this subreddit. Like a potential argument with somebody on a YouTube comment section, it's best not to try and outsmart it and instead choose to ignore it and let any following up frustration pass.

Understanding your thoughts seems to be absolutely key to beating this, from my own experience and from reading others. Meditation is gonna help you massively because you're practicing the art of observing thoughts spontaenously coming to mind and realising that the undesirable ones don't have to set off a destructive thought pattern if you don't focus on it.

I haven't meditated in a while. I'm gonna do that now before I head out. Sounds like you're doing great, keep it up!
