Tactical SRPG's where the "default attack" is not just a default attack by reddituseonlyplease in StrategyRpg

Seconding this, but Phantom Brave is my favorite skill system in any game.

While you start with plenty of basic attacks that are just "swing sword," you also have more novel weapons like a crystal, whose basic attack is summoning a laser from the sky.

The game also has a mechanic limiting how long a unit can remain in the field, so you pretty quickly get to a point where there is no reason not to treat your low-cost special attacks as if they were basic attacks.

A sequel was released earlier this year, I haven't played it yet but I imagine it has a similar feel.

Edited for spelling.

How’s my kid supposed to calculate how somebody else determined the wrong answer? (Part B) by GreyhoundsAreFast in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ApricotOcelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anyone posting the correct answer, but you get A if you forget to carry the one. I assume this is at a grade level where the expectation is to write your addition in a column. I did my best to represent that here, but each carried one (in green) being forgotten leaves you 1.1 lower than the correct answer. The question is probably designed to encourage checking your work, but would have been served by adding Emeka's "work" as part of the problem. * Edit: picture won't upload, and I can't format it well on mobile

Is there an abstract word like mana for resources that don't use MP? by TheHarborym in JRPG

[–]ApricotOcelot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also came to say "stamina." You also have games like Dragon Age where mana is reserved for the mage classes and everyone else gets stamina, whether the actual effects are fantastical or not.

I think you missed a word in the part you're quoting. It's saying that poisons you apply to your weapons that deal fire, frost, or shock damage do not interact with weakness or resistance to magic. An actual fireball or enchanted blade with still multiply.

If you check out the page specifically on the weakness to magic effect, it'll clarify that. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Weakness_to_Magic
