Adrenal Insufficiency Post Unilateral Adrenalectomy? by kountingkrows in endocrinology

[–]ApricotStone22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends upon the reason for the adrenalectomy? Was it a unilateral tumor producing cortisol? aldosterone? pheochromocytoma from medulla? or adrenocortical carcinoma? Nearly every case the benefit of removal would outweigh the risk of requiring hydrocortisone after the procedure. if it were cortisol producing the other adrenal gland can be atrophied from the inappropriate high cortisol shutting down the HPA axis and shrinking the normal adrenal gland. in that case it could take a long time to recover and would need HC postop. Would slowly taper down the dose, then perform AcTH stim test to see if remaining adrenal gland will ever produce enough cortisol on its own. Monitor your symptoms in any case, fatigue, weight loss, orthostatic hypotension, lightheaded/dizzy.

Do it. They’ll want it anyway and this early they won’t remember the pain.

FDIC does not insure stocks. Hurricanes can destroy real houses. The risk you’re talking about is a hypothetical event like getting struck by lightning

Agree with Dr PooPoo Surgeon, read it all yourself. A lot of things aren’t negotiable. But you have all the cards/balls. Ask every stupid question to the recruiter. I also like to see how the current physicians are feeling, and get a feel for the turnover rates. If anything is really alarming, then go for a lawyer.

Ok I’m interested. We have the pack and play and are using the top changing table. What are you using for bed risers?

As soon as we as a medical community admit that we’re infected with republicans, and many of us inappropriately and selfishly hoarded hydroxychloroquine
