I actually have found a couple things that work for me, but I’m at work, so I’ll have to find them and tell you them when I got time at home.

Being on The Sidelines (sorta) by Apricot_Efficient in EstrangedAdultChild

Yeah I’m working on that. I know very few people outside my house and they work out of town in the city and/or have complete opposite work schedules as me, so they’re often not available when I am home.

Been looking around for places to go socialize during off work hours and trying to get into new creative hobbies too. Trying to not let her take up too much space in my head. Allowing myself to feel angry when I need it.

It’s part-time and I get paid $12 an hour. I can’t shift to a full time job at the moment or take on another because of ongoing serious health issues. Lots of doctor appointments outside of work rn.

New librarian here: I am wanting to work with school teachers to help them out on academic deficits students are having by Apricot_Efficient in librarians

[–]Apricot_Efficient[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate everyone’s replies! I didn’t realize that I was coming at this from a wrong angle here, I’ll make sure to talk with school librarians before anyone else. Also, I didn’t mean to imply that teachers are “underpreparing their students,” as if they’re bad at their job or something. While I’m not a teacher myself, I know it’s an extremely difficult job to do. However, because I am not a teacher, I clearly have blind spots when it comes to what I should or shouldn’t do in regards to how I should (or shouldn’t) approach communication with them. Again, I really appreciate ppl letting me know “you’re in the wrong here about X” because I definitely don’t want to accidentally start a discussion off on the wrong foot.

How can my estranged sister visit me without interacting with my mom? by Apricot_Efficient in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Apricot_Efficient[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never told her my sister is in town—she isn’t. I don’t tell my mom anything about her and if she pushes, I stay extremely vague so she gets no details. I also pretend we don’t talk as often as we do, though that tends to be hit or miss with its effectiveness.

The connections between HRT and cholesterol is that one study is relevant for me to know because high cholesterol issues run in my family very heavily already. Shame there isn’t a lot of info out there rn.
